    Roadsmart II Tires

I have nearly 5k on these Roadsmart II tyres. Having just done a 2.5k trip to the Brno Gp. The tyres performed perfectly, on either twisty German country roads or blasting at over 120mph for 40 minutes on the Autobahns. There is a slight flat spot developing, but perfectly expected with over...

    2013 FJR, Wobble

Changing the steering bearings to taper roller bearings will give a firmer feel. Either Timken or AllBalls racing bearing kits work and are quite cheap. Most wobble you describe is caused by a worn tyre and this can happen quite early on. It has happened to me on all makes of tyre and...

Take a look at my calipers! Please!

Son of a bitch, you're right!, On occasion, but not very often A

Take a look at my calipers! Please!

Don't try and clean the colour off the pistons, one caliper has coated pistons, the other standard stainless steel. I don't why Yamaha did it that way, maybe due to link braking system, but there will be a very good reason!

    FJR 1300A with inverted fork

In time I would hope the likes of Ohlins would do a USD fork for the Fjr13. That would be my preference if I was going to convert the front end :-)

    Wind Shield 2013 Gen III

The dreaded issue of noise and buffetting for the majority of riders? Or are you Gen III owners all waiting for new a CB and alike to manufacture a screen? A

Performance Report - Clutch, Steering Head Bearings, Traxxion ATK-20, Escort Live, Dunlap Roadsmart I & II's

+1 for the Dunlop Roadsmart II, having just completed 2500 miles trip to Lake Garda (It.) The tyres are very good with stability at 100+ cruising whilst carving up the Alpine roads was so much fun.

    2013 FJR - Product announced!

I like the look of the new Gen3, some nice improvements. I wont be purchasing it any time soon, but I am sure it will provide a useful parts bin to upgrade a Gen2 bike. Well not my bike, as I have done as much as I want, for now :) . (I do like the look of the new Akrapovic tail pipes...

"sbs" brake pads - has anyone any experience with?

I have these fitted to my bike at the moment. When I fitted them, they were slightly smaller than OE, but went in fine. I have used them for 2k+ miles now and they are as good as OE for stopping power/feel. In the UK the OE pads were charged out per pair whilst the SBS came as per caliper...

    Gen II throttle hang

Check the throttle tube is clean, the cables move freely, then if everything is okay, then look at the throttle bodies, but I have not heard of your problem. The 07 suffers from a jerky throttle response but a power commander 5 will cure that.

    Let's Discuss Brake Pads

I have just installed a set of SBS sintered pads as the originals cost a fortune. The SBS have good feel. Apparently SBS were used in Yamaha a number of years ago as standard.

    Gen II Fork Spring Replacement

I sent my forks to Harris performance UK to have Ohlins linear springs and 20mm sports rebound and compression cartridges, Ohlins fork oil. I also had the bushings and seals changed for good measure. The sag I set up is 40-45mm with rider onboard. I then went for a ride on a favourite piece...

    Epic F**K up, Now what?

Late post didn't read last page, all's well. Personally, before stripping down to the sump, I would drain the oil and hire a endoscope camera and see if you can see the socket in the sump. Then is you can use a magnet and endoscope together to retrieve it? If you need to remove sump as other...

    PCIII or V

The altitude surge is because you haven't turned the throttle enough. When it happens to me whilst riding at altitude, I go full throttle when the first opportunity arises, the ecu adjusts and is fine after that. Or you can stop switch the ignition off, restarting triggers the ecu to adjust...

Get a PC V and Autotune, you will not regret it. :)

    holeshot or what?

Holeshot headers are not optimised for the FJR. You will lose some low to mid range torque and gain a little bhp at the top revs. I have set of holeshot headers if you are interested. They do sound nice though. Andy

    Painted mirror wideners

I made some these a few years ago. I used a resin and wrapped mine in carbon fibre. 50mm or 2" will give you a very good rear view. I knew I should of gone into production. I could of been a billionaire by now :)

    hand cramp.

I had a similar issue where my thumbs would ache due to the angle of the bars. I made some wedges 5mm thick at the wide part and 1mm thin end. This levelled the bars so my palms lay flat , it cured my thumb ache. Andy
