At about 60,000 miles I began having clutch issues on my 2007 and the clutch handle assembly was the problem. Replaced it and that fixed it. This may not be related to your issue but you may want to inspect yours to ensure it's still in satisfactory condition.

Had exact same issue on my 07. Replaced the handle and the soft brass bushing and it totally fixed it.

I put 80,000 miles on a 2007 before selling it and getting a 2014. Then I put almost 30k on it. The FJR is a powerhouse machine but yet so elegant and refined. I've done a number of trips around the US on FJRs and, you're right, it is very therapeutic! My one day distance record was 1083 miles...

I have tried two different aftermarket seats but I'm fine with the factory seat. I have done several 1000+ mile days on the stock seat - no complaints here.

Unfortunately the mountains handle flooding and high winds very differently than places like Tampa. I've seen first hand how regular storms impact the southern Appalachians and sometimes it ain't pretty. It is not unusual to see sections of mountain roadways closed for months after a big storm...

Pictures are up near top of this page. Very worthwhile (esp on long trips). You will get immediate relief from the engine heat that is directed at the factory foot pegs. And it's nice just to change positions on long rides. Well made. Zero issues in 2 years. .
