2006 FJR only start when jumped

Does not make sense. If it was 13.3 volts and just clicked, then adding jumper cables should not change anything as 13.3 is plenty. May be something intermittent like the relay. I'm assuming the battery is good, being new, also assuming clean and tight connections. Really need to do more diag.

Won’t start in neutral with side stand down 2008 Model

The replacement ignition switch has a piece of yellow tape on the harness next to the plug. If you lift the tank and look at the ignition switch harness and you see yellow tape on it, then it has been replaced.

Won’t start in neutral with side stand down 2008 Model

It sounds like dirty contacts inside the ignition switch. I had this happen. The bike will crank but not start. When this happens check for a fault code 19 to be displayed on gage. I think you will see it while cranking and no start. Once it starts code goes away. You should check the fault code...

    2007 FJR Starter Issues

Yeah, it's hard to tell when listening to video if the noise is a cylinder firing like when flooded or a metal-to-metal noise. Although it sounds more like a flooded engine to me. A little more history would help. Like when it was last run did it run good/normal? Did you just buy bike and have...

    2007 FJR Starter Issues

It sounds like a cylinder firing. Go WOT while cranking. That will clear it out and allow it to start. It may take several attempts and that's ok just make sure it is WOT while cranking. When you put it to WOT it not only gives it max air but also when the ECM sees WOT with engine not running it...

    2007 FJR Starter Issues

Oh. just saw video. It is trying to start. Try holding it wide open throttle, like some have said earlier. It may be flooded and by holding it WOT you will give it more air to help clear it out. Crank it for like 5 seconds at a time and give it a few minutes in between so you don't overheat the...

    2007 FJR Starter Issues

Is it spinning the engine, and not starting? Or is it just clicking when you hit the start button?

    2007 FJR Starter Issues

I was going to say but 1911 beat me to it. 70 amps is normal good ready. I believe anything under 100 is good

Better description would be great. Did you mean wines? like the starter is spinning and not engaging with the engine?

    Ignition switch

Yes what Ross said. It has the yellow tape on plug end. Also the recall switch came with new screws that once installed the head brakes off leaving the tamper proof ones you see now.

    Starter, relay or battery?

As others said, start off with a known good battery. Then make sure it's charging enough. Then check cranking amp draw. (Telling you starter condition) Then voltage drop test, (to check wiring and connections) starter circuit voltage drop test This will tell the condition of everything between...

    ignation fail

Do you get fault code 19? If so then it's dirty contacts inside key switch.

    Tracer 9 back to FJR

The FJR does everything I want it to do very well, and I would never replace it. A second bike would be nice and for me it would be a dual sport for some light off road fun.
