    Pray for Abby Sunderland

Been following her on twitter for months... This is a scary situation for her and all her friends family. My sincerest best hopes and wishes are with her. It *sounds* like it might turn out okay. Damn scary though, the Indian ocean this time of year, from what I've read, is not to be trifled...

Do you “Hang Off” your FJR ??????

sheeesus I don't know, I'm not a jockey, just making this sheet up as I go along ya know ;) no now really, my vote is for 'helping the horse to run', when we get a jockey in here we'll know for sure ;)

Do you “Hang Off” your FJR ??????

Maybe one way to think about it is .... a jockey on a horse. They don't sit on the horse, during the race anyway. Their butts are off the horse and their knees act like shock absorbers. So the horse doesn't carry the 'dead weight' of the rider. The way the rider rides, helps the horse to run...

    Buying a new TV

The plasma vs LCD battle rages on... and on... and on... If you care to, a google search will give you tons of reading opportunities. But having owned a 40 and now a 46 LCD HdTv, I can tell you this... most likely you will care about HD quality, because that's what these TV's are all about...

Have you checked this site? If they don't have it seems they should be able to get one... https://www.pinlockusa.com/index2.htm

Does the FJR encourage faster riding?

I've only ridden an fjr briefly, but like my vfr, if I had been riding it for awhile and my back was killing me from the leaned over riding position, I'd ride pretty aggressively to get home and get off the bike. Too aggressively to be honest. There's a trade off between sport and touring, and...

I blew a chance to educate a young rider.

JB very kewl on yer part m8. We never know the lasting effect we can have. Handling things appropriately, instead of being some dictating ass, can and does eventually get home. Do we ever know our efforts are worth anything? sometimes no, sadly. but then you hear someone tell a story about how...

    Sprint Phone suggestions needed

Have you guys heard of the Sprint Sero (Sprint Employee Referral Offers) plans? Can't remember where I saw them mentioned, but do a google search for sprint sero, then enter the specific email address to see the plans. I called a "retention specialist" after reading about these great plans and...

I may have found my next bike

Had an 02 vfr and an 03... really liked em both... almost 20k miles between the two. vtec? not an issue, just keep the revs above 6800, how hard is that? shift man, just shift, you don't have to look at the tach, just snip a gear. Thought the vtec was kinda fun actually. Probably won't see it...

    motoGP vs. Superbike

Isn't it also true that MotoGP bikes can have no production parts in them? Supposedly ea bike is a prototype, and in the Faster DVD I believe they alluded to ea one costing in the range of a million bucks?!?! As mentioned, the MotoGP bikes are absolutely nothing like the Mfg street version...

Hit and Run - Rider Dead

very sad indeed. sounds like another left turner that wasn't paying enough attention, didn't look, didn't see, etc. Bright colors and headlight modulators, it's our only defense. may he rest in peace.

    IT'S ALIVE!!!

Excellent job Scott! I like the idea of the name change... to trannyfool :) One of my very first bikes, more then 20 years ago, was an old harley xlch. One side casing was cracked and it leaked oil. I decided to take it apart and see if I could replace it. Without a manual, or any guidance...

Transmission gears updated from 2006/07 to 2008

wanted to say thanks to Scott... Much appreciated your passing along the discovered info about the 08's. That includes everyone contributing actually. It's good to see yamma working to improve things. This (gear dogs) was one that I found disheartening, very happy to see progress here. thanks...

newbie with another stupid "ABS" question (searched 1st)

As others have said, ya really really really really want to practice emergency braking before you need it. You'll know the bikes and your capabilities and it could make a major difference. This pic shows the results of my many many emer braking practices, the full fork travel is 4.5 inches...

    Harley accident

very sad indeed. Doesn't sound too promising for them. Seems many riders aren't prepared for the 'worst case scenario', not only in their gear but also riding skills. I see them all the time in MSF classes. Hoping for the best for these two unfortunate riders.

    Umbrella Girls from Utah

oh come on! He's only got one hand on the umbrella! fortunately he's using all 4 fingers though! I'm afraid to ask which foot went down first!! the little lady is very cute m8 ;) yer a lucky man.

    Braking and left foot position

Actually they do, I teach it in both the BRC and ERC. Left foot first. If the right is being used to brake, it's last, and they recommend using both brakes. there is nothing in either the instruction cards on the range or the classroom video's or the handbook suggesting keeping both feet on the...
