    FJR oil filter update!

Don't know how many of you know, but on the '12 and older FJR's we can't use the newer superceded 5GH filters from Yamaha. You must continue to use the older 5JW filters. Don't know why, but that's what Yamaha claims. Just found out, thought I'd spread the word. (the older ones are cheaper anyway;))

    Instrument cluster/meter failure? '05 feejer

So a couple of weeks ago I come out of the restaurant from lunch, hop on my trusty steed, turn the key on, and nothing happens with the gauges at all. I fiddle with the ignition key and kill switch thinking one is going wonky on me, nothing there. I proceed to start the bike and she starts and...

    FJR probably saved my life

That's an awesome story to hear;) Now how many other riders out there can say they're that attentive to avoid a crash like that?? Most riders would be lollygagging around and not even know what hit um.

    Gen1 '05 to a gen2 '06? Worth it or not?

Hey guys, I've got a 'my fiancé won't like it so much' idea in my head. I'm sporting a gen1 '05 right now, and know that in '06 they changed and updated quite afew things about our feejers. One of the dealers in my area has a nice '06 for 6K, same color as my '05, but a gen2. I'm pondering...

Ok, do you "fast shift" or "slow shift"?

I've found if I don't have to silently blast by a Harley and make him shit himself(hehe), my '05 fancies a slow shift. It seems if anything above 3-3500rpm and really getting on the throttle it seems to 'catch' when I shift, just doesn't feel right. So I like to shift down low round 3K, and give...

    FJR colors

Drool rag? Heck, I had to grab a towel! That is one sexy bike

It arrived today. (My New 2012)

Not gunna lie, kinda getting a chubby looking at that pretty girl. I'm jealous... That makes my 05 blue look old, haha. Love it!

    FJR colors

Does Yamaha make a blue FJR after the 1st gens? I hardly ever see a first gen that's not blue, and I don't think I've seen a 2nd gen or beyond that is. I'd love to have something newer than my 05 because of features and improvements, but do love my blue bike. thanks guys

    Sleeping pad recommendation for camping?

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations. I'll post what I get. I'm wanting to get something within the next week cause my buddy's and I are going on a bachelor ride to the black hills here in September.

    Sleeping pad recommendation for camping?

I'd like to know what you guys use/prefer for a sleeping pad when overnight camping somewhere on the bike. I for sure ain't hauling around the huge air mattress, so I want to go with a sleeping pad. I do have a little lower back irritation, so comfort is a must. Plus pack up small enough for the...

    Anti bug coating?

This might be a 'did he really ask that' question, but I have to ask incase someone's not sharing their awesome remedy. Do you guys know of any coating, wax, or anything of the sort that makes bugs not stick or come off with ease from our bikes? That's the biggest thing I hate about summer...

    Coffman's Exhaust

Personally I wouldn't run them based off of it's a touring bike, not race bike. If your like me and run longer than an hour at a time, that's going to get annoying if you get my gist. On the other hand, a decent length set of FMF, Akropivic, 2 bro's etc. would give an awesome tone but yet not be...

High speed engine vibs, normal or not

Hey feejer lovers, got a quick discussion topic on my '05 gen1. As we all know the feejer could put a Harley to shame by balancing a cup of water on the tank perfectly still while idling all day long, but my question is about the engine vibs through the upper half of the rpm range. I'm talking...

    Starting issues when hot

Awsome! I'm happy to see I'm not the only one, haha. Ionbeam, I did put the only serviceable part in it this winter, the brushes. So I'm going to have to go with a new one. I really just don't want to spend the $400 something odd dollars to get a new one. They're the simplest little starter...

    Starting issues when hot

So I'm still having slow cranking issues with my 05. Now that it's summer and warm it will start all the time now but still crank slow, but after a good 'hot soak' (letting it idle 10min. or so after it's warmed up to get everything steaming hot), I'll shut it off and attempt to start again and...

    Factory sidecases...worth it?

I agree. I'm saving money and going to paint them semi-gloss black to match my Shad48, cheaper than going with the Galaxy Blue too;)
  19. mxboy96

    Factory sidecases...worth it?

Well, based on what you guys said and suggested I went ahead and bought them! Granted I will have to paint them to match and buy locks, but for $300 for a good used set when brand new runs well over a grand, I think this was a no brainer. Thanks guys!

    Factory sidecases...worth it?

Hey guys. I know a gent who has some factory side cases for sale, no locks and different color, but reasonably priced. I can paint them and buy locks, but I'm wondering if they would be much better for capacity than my soft sided, expandable Rapid Transit bags. Obviously I could lock these, but...
