Motorcycle Consumer News (MCN) is back (hopefully)

This is a good magazine. I just received notice from JP magazine ( Jeep), that they shut down. My options were to receive one of two other mags online digital. The digital is convenient but not as easy to read since the print doesn't expand on my computer. Recently I was offered Motortrend for...

My first take on Super Tenere

I like my Super Tenere' a lot. It's has plenty of power in sport mode. With the Yamaha tall screen air is quiet up to about 70 MPH for me. The seat was uncomfortable for me as well with about an hour in the saddle just like FJR Pilot stated. I tried a Saddleman seat with some improvement but I...

    Africa twin on Nerburgring (sp?)

Yeah! He ended up passing the cars that had passed him earlier.

    Deer Strikes by State

That's a pretty interesting map of Deer strikes. Those insurance companies have things figured out!

    Daughter needs a car

HRZ, Good choice! I've had two Cummin's in Dodge / Ram trucks and both were excellent once initial little warranty, recalls were completed. I spent most of my work life around diesels & heavy equipment. You can hook the camper up and go with a Diesel as they like to be worked on break-in...

Which ADV Tourer? BMW GSA vs Super Tenere?

Good job riding that tight single track!! That area reminds me of the trails South of Denver known as Rampart & Westcreek. Definitely lots of concentration and arm pump! Good video.

Which ADV Tourer? BMW GSA vs Super Tenere?

Good find! You will enjoy riding that GS. I think they have a refinement that is above the other brands from the few I've ridden. I really like my S10 but there's a noticeable difference. Most of my friends with BMW's have very little problems with them. Kind of like Ford trucks, they get bashed...

Which ADV Tourer? BMW GSA vs Super Tenere?

I rode a GS in Europe for a week and it was outstanding in the Alps and very comfortable even having my Wife on the back. I made the switch to an S10 from the FJR 2 years ago and I really like the bike. The seat as usual was the only drawback that I don't have completely sorted out. I would say...

    F150 Engine recommendations

Redfish, You're right about the new Coyote based 5.0 L. That engine is a beast at 400 HP. My friend has one and it's impressive. My only concern with the new V8's is you get stuck with cylinder deactivation. That seems to be the problem down the road when the warranty runs out. People on Chevy...

    F150 Engine recommendations

There is a good pictorial explanation on savage geese, Youtube.........the truth about direct injection. The new Raptor & Lexus have addressed this by running the typical injection cycled in with the direct injection to eliminate this issue.

Ford Guys, check out Youtube: Fordtech Makaloco. He is a top notch Ford mechanic who does videos on all the Ford power plants and tails what to look for and how to repair & maintain them. He caught a lot of flack for it so went out on his own. I don't have a Ford but I enjoy watching his...

    Earplugs: just me?

A lot of the problem is word recogntion. I always thought it was just my inability to hear the sound level. I learned that on these hearing tests. I would think, I know I heard that but couldn't understand what said. So trying to come up with an answer was useless!

    Earplugs: just me?

I bought set of hearing aids three months ago at Sam's. I always watched my Father in law choosing to be isolated from conversations because he was too stubborn to wear his. These aids opened up my life to sounds I haven't heard in years!! Now I can hear separate voices in a noisy room which...

You're right. I've seen his videos and read his background. Good stuff.

    Time for a new bike...

2014 & newer. There has been subtle changes and refinements with the later Gens. The cruise, traction control and overall comfort puts it inline with the R1200 GS. I rode a GS in Europe about 10 years ago and I really wanted one. The higher initial price and some of the required maintenance kept...

    Time for a new bike...

I made the switch over to the S10 and I wouldn't go back even if I didn't have stiff knees. I like the roomier seating and with the Yamaha touring shield, different seat it's a quieter cockpit for me. You have to get used to the throb of the twin versus the silky smooth inline 4. The bike has...

    Family time with weapons

Thanks for the info. I think it will be fun to own a couple different calibers as most folks here do. My neighbor likes bowling pin shoots, he uses a .44 Mag. That thing feels like a mule kick in the hand but it definitely knocks pins off the table!

    Family time with weapons

Zilla, Good info on the 357 Sig. I've been drooling over a P229 Legion and was studying up on the 357 since all my guns are 9MM. I saw a test wear the 357 penetrated deeper than a .45 cal round. Recoil & muzzle flash are definitely important thing to consider as well as cost to shoot it. I...
