    Rekey Panniers

Nice! And the side bags lock with the ignition key now? That's awesome! I'm in the same boat - I may have to give this a shot! Maybe it'll make more sense when I get in there and try it, but what do you mean when you said you "would rest the cylinder on a small flathead screwdriver"? Thanks...

Are short brake levers just as effective?

Totally right - that's what I meant to say. I'll learn me some common sense one of these days. It's always there but I end up asking the question anyway. Thanks everybody. Overall it sounds like I'm good to go for a short brake lever

Are short brake levers just as effective?

Wow - thanks all for the quick replies. I'll stop being an FNG one day and not pester everybody so much :) Doesn't sound like anyone has had any real bad experiences them. I'm considering the shorties because I figure it will let me cover the brakes when traffic's more congested so I can...

Are short brake levers just as effective?

I've been thinking of getting the asv c/5 short brake lever. A friend suggested I do some research about the effectiveness of a short lever vs a long lever but I haven't quite found the answer I'm looking for. I imagine there's a bit less leverage, but that's on the weaker two fingers anyway...

Gen2/3 Subframe Stiffy Kit by Garauld

So how much and how do I get one? I just got my FJR in October and I haven't loaded it up yet, but it sounds like this is a must-have and I can't believe that they call it a sport-tourer if it can't take a top case! Now that I think of it, maybe that's why they want to call it a...

thanks for the post! I've started looking at the little $60 2 piece things with some trepidation - I think a single piece of billet, whichever fits best, just makes more sense.

    YCC-S Modification?

Thanks mcatrophy! I'll check on the way home today, but I'm pretty sure it's pulling sooner than 1800, and it's always been pretty jerky but I just kinda tuned my throttle hand a bit and shrugged it off thinking that's just what it is.

    YCC-S Modification?

Okay, so there is a slight uphill grade that I have slowed down to and am approaching in third. The throttle's out so I'm just "coasting" in gear. My idle is set to 1100 rpm and the bike begins to push me up the hill in third at 1100 rpm. Once the tach starts to go below 1000 rpm, the engine...

Here's a thought - are there any FJR rides scheduled somwhere? That'd be the best way to check out how different farkles people have before buying them.

Thanks for pointing out your post red. I wish that I try them out before blowing all that cash. I'd looked at the helibars but thought the MCL sounded a bit more solid, and not adding a brake line extension sounded good too. I'm kinda thinkin' I want the bars to come up a bit rather than so...

    Riser Plate

It looked like it would still accommodate a forward, middle, and rear position like the stock bars do, and it sounded like it was generally recommended. I guess with as tall as it is, even the forward position was too far? Are you back to stock then or what did you do? As it is I'm riding...

    Riser Plate

If you're talking about the one by MV Verholen - it doesn't sound like it's as tall and doesn't bring the bars as far back as Larry's does. I've watched ebay for it from time to time, I guess I'll make a search alert for it; but I fear that something so good rarely comes back off a bike once...

    YCC-S Modification?

haha - well thank goodness for old men then - we need more - just don't be sad :) I'm definitely not in the practice of stopping in fifth, I usually let the engine do most of the braking with a little throttle blip down through each gear before I ever touch the brakes. I just stopped in...

I've got some birthday money and thought the first thing I might try to do to make my steed more comfortable for my 6'2" tall and 34" inseam frame would be the bar riser plate from Motorycycle Larry's - anybody got a slick way to get them cheaper than the $300 list price?
