    Greetings and salutations

The later generation (2008+) is definitely harder to work on than the FJR, but the 2000 Concours was a piece of cake. I had one for about 40K miles.

That's normal. Mine does the same thing. I fill up with the bike on the side stand and the fuel pump nozzle just inside the big hole. When it clicks off I am done. As far as removing the Power Commander, just take it out and put the connectors back to stock. It has no effect on the ECU programming.

BigBlue, Yes my ECU has Ivan's flash. I went from low 40's to around 50 MPG. Plus it runs much smoother than with the stock ECU. Crisper throttle response and more linear power. Not really any faster that I can tell but that is not what I was looking for.

Sell the Power Commander and get Ivan's ECU reflash. You'll get faster and smoother throttle response and better gas mileage.

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

The relay coil resistance was enough to do the trick. Correct. The cap is across the relay. The diode prevents discharging the cap back through the light filament. I got the connectors from here: https://www.corsa-technic.com/index.php

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

Thanks. It's my own cobbled together design. I started out with semiconductors and such but I wanted to distill it down to minimum complexity, parts and cost. The signal light voltage charges the cap and energizes the relay at the same time which disconnects power to the marker light. The cap...

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

I found the pics showing the parts and assembly. I made them so that I did not have to modify any of the stock wiring.

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

    Exactly. I think I used a relay, a diode and a capacitor. It's been a while. :)

Excellent! (y) Now for the pièce de résistance. Modify the front signal lights so that they blink "bright-off-bright-off..." instead of "bright-dim-bright-dim..." I made that change on mine to make the signal lights more visible to oncoming traffic. I'd be interested to see how you would do it.

    2004 FJR

Loved my 2004. I would have kept it if it had ABS brakes.

    Battery Stress Test

If the battery is DEAD, a push start will not work. It needs the battery to run the ECU. No computer, no start.

    Error Code 14

Thanks Ross, but the code does not clear. It's there as soon as I turn the key on. I don't even have to start it. I'll pull all the hoses that are attached to the sensor and check them thoroughly.

    Error Code 14

This code appeared after a recent gas fill up when I started the engine. The starter stalled for a second, then the engine fired up normally except with code 14 showing. Forum searches mostly said it's caused by goo in the sensor vacuum port or hose but mine are perfectly clean. I ran the...

    Front axel bolt issue

I have a 3/4" Craftsman spark plug socket which has a hex top that fits the axle perfectly. I just stick a short extension thought the spark plug end. Maybe check your spark plug socket collection. You might get lucky.

Thinking of buying a Fluke automotive ScopeMeter... Thoughts, Ideas?

Check out Picoscope: https://www.picotech.com/products/oscilloscope I'd have one if I didn't have a scope already.

Balanced and Flow Tested Injectors - Interested?

    $25 x 12 = $300. There, I saved you $200. You're welcome. 😉

    Pros/Cons of the 6th gear?

I rode an XJ750 way back and that had a five speed tranny. Even with that puny power (by comparison to the FJR) it felt just fine. The meaty torque of the FJR seems to be happy with five speeds.

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

Ah yes, I used to go up there often when my mom was alive. She loved the area (used to live around there) and always liked eating at the Cozy Country Inn Restaurant in Thurmont. Too bad it's gone now. I have some nice memories hiking up to Cunningham Falls.
