    Shopping for Seats

I've had a Laam and a RDL on my 2016. The RDL has a sweet spot that is "perfect". The Laam is slightly better if you don't stay in one spot. If you move around in a La-Z-Boy, get the Laam. If you don't, get the RDL. If you were in San Antonio, I'd let you borrow my RDL for a day or two.

    buying high mileage FJR

I'll sell you my 2005 with < 130K with lots of farkles for $1500. I'm not the first owner. I got it with 72K from a Milwaukee area dealer in 2014 when I lived in Columbus, Ohio. Previous owner had put on an RDL; heated grips (I've been told they are the kind dealers put on back in the day)...

    After-Market Foot Pegs for 2022

Some people get out their angle grinder and swap to Gold Wing foot pegs. I don't know, but there is a possibility that the Tenere parts will fit. I don't have both bikes to check with...

    Hill country FJR ride

On June 17 I plan to leave the Leon Springs area, ride the Sisters, then down to Del Rio, out US 90, taking a gander at the Pecos Gorge from the two bridges, then overnight in Sanderson to see the Milky Way (new moon). On Sunday I'll head back by way of the Caverns of Sonora. If anyone else is...

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

It depends on what I chose to do without. Lose the low maintenance costs and exceptional reliability? Go BMW. Lose the sportiness? Go Gold Wing. Lose the comfort and maybe some reliability? Kawasaki H2 SX SE+.

    TOP Box Replacement Recommendations

Your other main choice is Shad. The primary differences are 1) the Shad racks occasionally don't fit well; 2) you can leave a Shad topcase unlocked such that you can open it without a key.

    Gen 1 vs Gen2

The RDL on my Gen I is quite comfy. My 2016 feels like straddling a barrel regardless of stock, RDL, or Laam.

    Gen 1 vs Gen2

No one has mentioned that Gen I is more svelte in the tank area - better for people with short legs. Gen II+ is like a straddling a barrel.

Finally, a bike uglier than Brodie's old AE!

Austin/Travis County ride BMWs (S1200RT and 650-GS). There is a non-profit group of EMS in Austin that are ham radio operators that can be hired (mileage, hotels if necessary).

    Hello AllGen 1 2005

All of the discussions I've seen have said the 2006+ is a different unit and implied they cannot be substituted. Neither am I aware of any pattern of failure of 2006-2007 ABS units rear brake functionality as with the 2005. That alone suggests a significant difference. I would also want to...
