    2014 Yamaha FJR1300ES - Yorktown, VA

The Corbin seat seemed to get me about an inch closer to the ground. It also feels better (between my legs) when stopped and standing due to its shape. Sorry, the bike (along with all of the accessories) just sold yesterday at full asking price ($11,500).

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Good questions. Yes, my bike had to go through tech and they inspected it and they lowered the air pressure in the tires. Apparently they don't see many heavy touring bikes come through because they didn't seem to be 100% sure on what pressures to run. So they lowered each tire by about 5...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Reg Primore's CLASS School comes to VIR as well. I have heard really good things about that school, and I plan on attending this fall or next spring.

Yes, there was a professional photographer at the school. He and his helper would go out on the track and setup in the grass in strategic locations, and they got some amazing shots. You could buy individual pictures (and I don't remember price per photo), or you could buy a disk that contained...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Several members have posted that they would like to go to this school. I plan to go next year when they return to VIR in the spring. Perhaps I should announce it on here and see if we could get several forum members to attend as well. It would be nice to have a large FJR showing at one of...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

I'm trying to delay the inevitable, lol. During the school, my coach could see that I was pushing that FJR hard, and was trying to talk me into buying a sportbike and getting into the sport. But after overhearing all of the discussions between other students about their various "crashes" over...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Yes, the FJR is quite larger and heavier than the sport bikes. Fortunately for me, I have never ridden a sport bike (I came from the cruiser world), and therefore, I had no idea what I was missing, lol. The funny thing is that I actually passed a few sport bike during each of my track...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

At VIR, the cost is $475/day if you bring your own bike, OR $675/day if you use their bike (BMW S1000RR). They also can provide you with all of the gear (leathers, back protector, boots, gloves, helmet, etc.) for an additional $75. They travel to various tracks across the US and the cost...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Oh, I forgot to mention something else positive about this school. Most motorcycle racing schools require that you perform the following modifications to your bike prior to being allowed on the track: Bikes must have oil fill cap, oil drain plug, and oil filter safety wired Liquid cooled bikes...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

That's exactly what this school is about. It's a "cornering school". The closest they come to Florida is Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama during the spring. Here's some info on their Level I class: Level I addresses the six most common errors riders, from novice to world-class racers, make...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

Good question... PROS: Gaining confidence on the bike that "I" ride (and not someone else's) Having the opportunity to experience the bike performing as it should (i.e. not sliding and not losing traction and stopping very quickly, etc.). As a rider, especially on twisties, I would always...

Took my FJR to the California SuperBike School (with pics)!

So I decided to enroll in California SuperBike School's Level I and Level II classes. I wanted to improve my skills on the twisties. The School was at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) last week. Teaser Pic: The school requires that you have 90% tread so I went ahead and bought new...

    EOM 2016 - Wytheville Virginia on September 22-25, 2016 - Ramada Inn

Their caramel kettle corn tastes like waffles with maple syrup!!! Best kettle corn I've ever had!! I usually buy a large bag full and throw it in the truck and eat it throughout the trip. Anytime we ride the BRP, we always incorporate a stop at Kings Gourmet Popcorn. Again, you are welcome...

    EOM 2016 - Wytheville Virginia on September 22-25, 2016 - Ramada Inn

Hey Luvtoride, we live only 30 min from Norfolk. You are welcome to join us!! If we were to take Rt. 58, it would take us roughly 6hrs (without traffic). If we take the Blue Ridge Parkway (I-64W to the BRP), the trip will take us roughly 7.5 hrs. So basically, we are adding 1.5 hours to the...

What to do with our "riding gear" while we are in the museum?

Yep, I'm going to mount two helmet locks on my bike somewhere. Thanks!

    EOM 2016 - Wytheville Virginia on September 22-25, 2016 - Ramada Inn

My wife and I will be attending. We are very excited!! Hotel room has been booked. The organizers negotiated such a good rate with Ramada, it lured me away from my favorite and usual hotel, The Hampton Inn (which is right across the street). I just couldn't pas up $59/night! We are...
