One of you sods has to have put one of these beautiful bikes into a bollard or something. I would like to buy your busted mistake to fix it or ... well whatever.
Well thank you, I didn't know I needed your suggestions, now it has bloody well changed my life, why didn't I ever think of a turbo?
To be honest, I really dont know that I have the words to respond to this post.....
Let me put it this way, similar displacement ZX-14 and Busa engine put down...
I am not a pro at that. I know a lot about motors, and I can assemble what someone has already done, but doing porting and flow mods is not my things. I don't have a 5 axis CNC machine.
Luckily, I have a good friend who is taking his Rocket 3 to Carpenter Racing for their 265+ street package...
So, I would like to get a top end, year does not matter. Top end means ITBs, comp, etc.
I would like to get an entire 2016 motor and trans, but thats not how the world works. Ill take any FJR head, with TB and intake manifold and computer.
Apparently mr ionbeam, tough guy trash talker ..... has nothing to say. Yes, I know what I am doing. Sorry you were such a chump for pulling your heads and not doing anything with them.
This hits the nail on the head. However, it doesn't need to be a track day build, just a nice tuned up build. Turbos on a bike are a mess, and NOS is only good for shorts bursts when you are at WOT. Electric turbo/superchargers are all bullshit anyway. Not a big enough engine to drive a...
Engines are what I know. If you cant tell from my post, I have modded / raced all sorts of things. I don't need a "race prepped" style bike, I have a little triumph if I want to hit the track.
I want something streetable, that I can take out and ride every day, but just a bit more kick. There...
Please tell me where these magical engines are just hanging out, like fruit for the picking. So far they seem hard to find, and pricey.
Powerman...... Yes, lots of homework should be done. Turbo is not what I am looking for, I would rather increase compression, and go for more power across the...
Agreed. There is always ways to smooth out flow and increase fuel air mix.
Keep in mind, some of our bikes were cast over 15 years ago.
Thank you for the pictures. There is clearly plenty of room for a larger intake valve, and possibly even a larger exhaust valve.
I have had plenty of flying...
I used to build race engines for my top sportsman drag team (4.70 / 1/8 mile breakout), and I have worked with everything from LeMons to pro stuff. If I do that, it would need a slightly longer swingarm. Little bit of a pain with a shaft.
FJRs to me are like Honda Civics. Not in speed. But at 90,000 miles they are just getting broken in.
This is the story of how I bought my FJR. I also ride a Triumph Street Triple(heavily modded), and I do love me some naked fun.
I had been looking for another bike, and had cash in hand and was...
What is the wall thickness between cylinders? Or a piston center to center measurement? Skirt length, wrist pin measurements?
Has anyone ever BUILT an FJR motor? There is a ton of room for upgrades. Cam profile, cam timing, ignition timing / tuning, head porting, valve re-sizing, intake runner...
WHAT? What are you all talking about. If I ever have the head off, the first thing I would do is have it ported and polished. If you have ever worked with racing vehicles of any type, you know that even ok stock work can gain a lot with a basic p&p.
"OH, I looked down the intake it doesn't...
Some of you guys have been riding longer than I have been alive.
I started with a Triumph Street triple, similar to the 675 Daytona, but naked, and a little more comfortable. Mean little bastard. Wanted something nice and comfy for the wife to ride with me. I rode about 15 different bikes...
