    How often do you re-torque the steering head bearings if they seem OK?

    Well there you go... The owners manual states to "Check" steering head bearings every 4,000 mi. not "re-torque", but since mine were loose at 600 miles and had the "clunk" on sudden braking I got a little paranoid. Exactly the answer I was looking for, tens of thousands of miles' experience in...

    How often do you re-torque the steering head bearings if they seem OK?

    As the title says, I had mine loose at 600 miles, (new 2017 FJR ES) retorqued them as per factory manual and have been OK since. At 4-5,000 miles I re-did the procedure even though there were no symptoms or signs of looseness. I'm at 8,000 miles and the manual calls for a steering head bearing...

    Shoei Neotec 2 Sizing

    That is an interesting note Bill I purchased a Neotec from a Japanese retailer and yes, the shape is probably slightly different than its american counterpart. Also the chinstrap is quick release instead of the double D ring, something I like. I get a hot spot right in the middle of my...

    Technic for Waterproof Gloves?

    Like McAtrophy, I wear gore tex gloves but with the gauntlet over the sleeves. As long as I keep my arms level or up, not a drop into the gloves, for hours on end... I suppose the other way works just as well, but the sleeves of my suits are narrow and stuffing the gauntlet in there would make...

    ABS test coupler

    Great tip! Just ordered one from Amazon. It shows the same part number as in Bryan's video on Youtube. This, in conjunction with Bryan's excellent how-to video (Two wheel obsession) makes it a snap to do. Thanks!

    Throttlemeister Customer Service A++

    +1 I have had throttlemeisters on my Suzuki SV 1000 for 12 years and they still work and look fantastic. So when I got my new 2017 FJR I called them to get two "left" ones as the best looking pair of bar end weights money can buy. The guy said "no problem" and shipped them at a significant...

    The Break In

    Thanks for sharing! I did look at the Versys 1000 while considering a new motorcycle, fantastic bike and reliable like Yamaha. In the end, however, the shaft drive, bigger range, electronic windshield, trip computer, build quality and looks of the FJR won me over.

    Queensland Ken - RIP

    Terrible news indeed. From my little time on this forum, I do remember his excellent comments, contributions and positive attitude. May he rest in peace.

    UPDATED: RESHCEDULED: Tech Day XVI

    This is awesome! Just getting started with my new 2017 FJR ES so it will be a while, but it comforts me to know there are events of this nature where I could get assistance from knowledgeable FJR owners in performing some of the more challenging maintenance items on this bike. A big thumbs up...

    25 miles is absolutely nothing, a free Yamaha trunk is quite worth it. Congratulations and enjoy your new ride! Daniel
