    Widening stock bars

Hah! I forgot all about this thread. I wound up widening the bars 2" (50mm) on each side for a total of four inches (100mm) overall. The difference is not huge or anything surprising, but it very definitely makes the bike much handier at any speed below 50mph (80kmh). All I did was section off...

Pictures of Tank bags on FJR

There's a strap that goes under the headstock with buckles on both ends that are adjustable. They are loosely tied together at the front of the tank with a rubber strap, so the ends don't fall down into the fairing. Then there's a single buckle strap that goes under the front of the seat...

Pictures of Tank bags on FJR

Not so with the various Eclipse units. The Sportpack, the version I tend to prefer for my ZX1100E (which then goes over to the FJR on those Yamaha days) has a second, upper section that expands, which then has a subsection on the upper layer for maps and so forth. Plus there are slim side...

https://www.eclipseluggage.com/eclipse-1.html You pretty much order by telephone. Again, not high-tech, but he's a straight shooter and I've been doing business with him for decades.

Pictures of Tank bags on FJR

I've been using Eclipse tank bags since 1975- the first one went on my BSA. US-made, far longer lasting than anything else I've seen up close, and made by a real guy. Albeit, a bit retro on the ordering thing.

    Folding a Aerostitch roadcrafter

Transitioning to the FJR's small and oddly shaped sidebags has driven me nuts, after many years of Givi E36s and a GL18. I tried getting my two-piece Roadcrafter into the FJR's right side bag, and while I eventually got the lid mostly closed after several tries, it's a wonder I didn't break...

nonic, I'd like to see about purchasing your Corbin. Thanks Bill

    Factory top case position modification?

I intend to move my Maxia rearwards to leave a little more room for the Missus, if she ever, ever, gets on the back of my bike again (got an NC700XD last autumn and won't get off it). But I'm thinking a max of 1 1/2" to 2". Eyeballing going further gives me concern about the leverage a loaded...

Corbin Smuggler trunk & Driver Seat from 2006 FJR

Do you believe the Corbin will work with a stock rear? Also, I don't think I see the shipping cost you'd want, if any. Thanks Bill

FS: Aerostich Darien Pants, Gray, 36

I apologize for being late to post that these are indeed sold and they shipped this morning. Apparently I don't have e-mail notifications of posts turned on, or something.

FS: Aerostich Darien Pants, Gray, 36

The Missus picked these off Ebay but they are a little too large for her (5'7", 140, 32"). Marked size 36 with no custom or other marking. They are virtually brand-new. They have the knee pads. We have them on Ebay at this location. She started at $220 with a $300 buy it now price plus $18...

"Stock" handlebars adjustable v Storz adapter?

I'd suggest, if the Storz conversion on your Connie did the deed (as mine did for me a long time ago) then the MV plate won't. It does not bring the bars back far enough for me, anyway, and my arms are still too stretched and I'm still leaned too far forward for non-sportbike riding behind a...

    Widening stock bars

Let's see. I ran up a post requesting simple information: are the FJR bars hollow? and explained why. I got this thread. Good heavens.

    Thoughts on this FJR

Not entirely on topic, but a Madstad windshield setup will do miracles for your FZ-07 in terms of wind protection and comfort. The one on the wife's NC700X borders on miraculous. I had to ride it home to Chicago from Detroit on a blustery day along I-94, which is a semi-trailer-packed super...

    Widening stock bars

Thanks, but the bike came with the MV adapter, which isn't doing it for me. As soon as I settle on the final solution, it likely will be for sale here. I keep fighting it, but I have a feeling I'll end up with the Heli bridge after all, assuming I get settled in with the bike and keep it. But...

    Widening stock bars

I think I could use a little bit more leverage on the handlebars of my new-to-me '09. Something I've actually done in the distant past was section (cut) a handlebar and insert a plug, then weld it back together. Done under the grip or switchgear areas, it's not noticeable. I'm thinking in...
