Have an FJR and a Triumph Trophy. Sure wish Triumph bring that back!! Love the raw primal aspects of the FJR but the Triumph is like butter and more comfortable on longer rides. Like the inline 3 over the BMW but basically the same bike but looks better IMO without that horizontal engine.

I called several places and no one could tell me why there was a difference. I took the chance and ordered the more expensive 2016 based on an article stating it was a new KYB system. Roll the dice from there!

I am in the same situation wanting to upgrade my 2006 rear shock. Replied to another thread here that the 2016 is KYB and not Yamaha based on an article I happened upon. Wonder is that continues through today on the non ES models?

I read a bike review on the 2016 that KYB was on the rear vs Yamaha branded. Maybe thats why??? Now which is better, the Yamaha Gen 3 or KYB Gen 3 rear shock??? I was going to upgrade mine so curious to get anyone else feedback!

R-1 or FZ-1 mirrors. Seen articles for FZ-1 but not the R-1. How do they differ? Does the year matter when referenced to the year FJR?
