Can't go wrong with the vstrom, just make sure it has ABS! I hated riding in New England with a 05 non-abs during the early winter months. The back wheel would lock up on a dime on cold roads.

Mdisher, i actually saved that post as a "favorite" on one of mine home computers, will have to look it up and see if the pictures are still active.

The more I think about it, there were 2 (or 3) spiders up in the front that were not replaced with the wiring harness. If one of them is acting up it will probaly be worth the time to check them all if I have to go digging around in there anyways.

mdisher, do you know if its the one buried under the fairing or the one behind the fwd L/H side cowl?

My PR-3's have not lasted as expected. Rear went out at around 6500 and the front at around 7500. Most of my miles are commuting and I think this last set only saw the mountains 3 to 4 times. I would almost swear that I had better miles on the PR-2's. Time to invest in a good tire changer...
