    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Hats off to you Brother! That is what Christmas is all about!

Is Yamalube 10 w 40 OK in Northern Illinois?

Agree with all above. I think if you were to ask Yamaha, they would tell you that that is the best you could put into your FJR. For one thing, Yamaha had 10W40 supersede 20W40 and second you put synthetic in.

    What you do besides motorbikes?

    Long-Distance Endurance MT10 Project

I did the same thing to my FZ-1 about 10 years ago. It made some significant difference and my son took it from Charlotte NC to Los Angeles CA through the tail of the Dragon, the Gulf states, TX, NM and AZ. He was concerned with range out West and some times camped at some national parks but he...

Rest in Peace Michael DeCaires 2-19-2021 Kingman Arizona

Sorry for your loss. The holidays are the worst times when you have lost a loved one. I am sure your Pop would have loved to share the joys of riding the FJR. Merry Christmas!

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

I have had both the Big Green Egg and a Kamado Joe. One was no different that the other. (Ford n Chevy). The Joe was a lot cheaper. The next grill I get will be a pellet smoker no doubt. I still have the Joe and the BBQ is out of sight but I love the idea of fire and forget.

2016 and 2007 FJR Still my favorites

How much did that paint job cost? Looks great!

Buying Used: How Can You Determine if Recall Work Was Completed

Absolutely, they keep up with the titles on the VIN number and send out recall information. I looked my 2016 with Yamaha when I bought it and they verified that the Xmsn recall had been done.

    Update/resolved & thx. —> Tire mount / balance weight(s) question

Agree 100%, I do my own balancing for that very reason.

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

I did about the same thing. Bought a 2007 Fz-1 in 2010 and thought I would eventually move up to a FJR which I did in 2021, I sold the FZ-1 last December but really missed it. The guy I sold it too texted me in late July about the oil change interval and said he bought a Concourse and wanted to...

    Tracer 9 back to FJR

Kind of funny, but I had a 2007 FZ-1 since 2010. I sold it last December to a guy that eventually bought a Concourse and I recently bought it back from him. I kind of missed it after I bought my FJR even though I love my Feejer. I recently rode the FZ-1 and it made me realize why I want to ride...

    Look what followed me home!

I have had two Yamahas and two BMW cars. I did have a few issues with the cars, and I can understand the concern folks have with reliability of BMWs, however, for performance, innovation and just flat out fun to drive, they are hard to beat. Not all have had issue with their BMWs either...

Welcome back! I love my blue 2016. It looks like yours except for the scratches. :)

    Mileage between Brake jobs

I probably changed them a bit too early. Had I to do it over again, I think I would have just switched sides. My FZ-1 went through brakes quicker than the FJ but I am eating up tires on the FJ as compared to the FZ.

    Mileage between Brake jobs

Wow, thanks. Actually I swapped some OE ones around and have EBC on one caliper and OE on the other. Like others mentions, I clean the parts, grease the caliper pin, scotch brite the rotors and clean them as well. Just a heads up, I would say 60% of my riding is in the mountains and the foothills.

    Mileage between Brake jobs

I know we all talk about the mileage we see from our tires, but I am curious how many miles we are getting between brake jobs. Secondly are we using OE pads or EBC or other? I bought my bike with 16,700 miles and did a front brake job at 24,300 however I dont know when the original owner did...

    Gen 3 or 4?

Thats a tough one. I have a 4th gen and I like it, however you will pay more. If you want a 6th gear, LED lighting, lighter clutch pull and a bit newer bike, then pay the extra, otherwise get a Gen 3. It just depends if you think it is worth the extra cash. I like those features on the 4th. I do...

New owner; just picked up my 2022 FJR

You can get a Cobalt Blue from Partzilla. I bought a 2016 FJR ES last may and ordered one. Givi is great equipment and you cant go wrong with it but I do like the top case from Yamaha. To me it was well worth it.

    It’s not you…it’s me.

The adventure bike market has certainly overtaken the large displacement sport touring market. I have heard very little if any complaints from GSA owners. I bought my 2016 FJR last from a dude that recently bought a GSA and wanted to get rid of his FJR. It was his second FJR. Right now I am...
