    Bad tiedown?

Thank you for the replies. I like the idea moving straps lower on the forks. It had never occurred to me to do it that way. I had considered adding tiedown points on the front frame of the trailer, but decided I was overthinking it. Probably will anyway, I do not like the way the existing...

    Bad tiedown?

Mounted a wheel chock on a new to me trailer. Tie downs in front are almost perfectly aligned to hit the lower triple tree without hitting any plastic. Rear tie downs are not bad using the foot peg mount, but on the left side the area behind the peg mount is the drive shaft and not open. The...

    Selling? Handling Test Ride Requests

I never considered buying a bike without riding it first. In fact I have never had the conversation whether a test ride was even in question. Although I can understand the reluctance due to the nature of riding a bike, have the folks not allowing a test ride ever bought without riding one? I do...

    Mazda oil filter

My Kawasaki Vulcan used the same oil filter as the Miata. Never noticed it was the same for the FJR. Reminds me of a thing my father in law used to say about fixing a car. "The easiest way to fix this thing would be to lift the radiator cap off and drive a new car underneath it". Usually with...

    Henry's Cover

Great story. I have found the more isolated, as in rural small town, the less people look like what they can do. Book and cover analogy fits best. A guy down the road is a camper savant. Looks like he just dragged himself out of a weeks bender and no sleep. Stooped over due to back problems...

    Best BBQ Joints

I cannot add to the list of barbecue joints to frequent, but I can add to the list of places to avoid. Mrs. N and I were in the Twin Cities area last weekend. No idea where to eat so we did a search for smokehouse barbecue etc. and found Old Southern BBQ which was right on our way to the motel...

    110 Octane Racing Fuel

I have had problems with carbs getting goofed up after sitting through our long winters. Not always, but I hate working on carbs so played around with a few different scenarios to work around it. I settled on using ethanal free gas at the end of the season. Around here that means unleaded 93...

This hopefully will keep mice outa my air cleaner.

I have not. Always assumed they were just another useless gimmick like deer magnets...eerr I mean whistles on cars. But now that I am thinking about it, my daughter or maybe the renter I had in my house for a few years left one behind. I removed it to use the outlet it was in, but did not throw...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

To be honest, ribs are my favorite thing to put into the smoker. I really like everything I have ever tried, but if I had to pick one thing it would be hands down baby backs. Less time commitment, most dependably good results and nobody ever says no to smoked ribs. Except, now that I think about...

This hopefully will keep mice outa my air cleaner.

Well, I am up to 7 hostile combatants. Two again last night. Using plastic traps that squeeze to set. No finicky setting like the old style wood and wire ones, but mechanics of how they work are pretty much the same. I have two traps designed for multiple resets. One of which I have used with...

This hopefully will keep mice outa my air cleaner.

I live rural so mouse problems are always going to be a thing. Some years better, some years worse. When I moved back into my house several years ago after living out of state I was surprised at how little mice problems I had. Still left traps in the garage and shop. They seem to filter through...

This hopefully will keep mice outa my air cleaner.

Stupid mice. I hate mice. If I had the money I would put a bounty out on mice. I attempted to use the battery tender connection installed by a previous owner. No luck. So removed seat to get at the battery, but as all of you know the battery is hidden somewhere else. Duh. But I found the two...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Like the look of the brisket posted above. Oddly even though I have been using the smoker years I have never done a brisket. Should fix that. Smoked a ham Christmas morning. Turned out okay. No complaints, but have had and have done better. I use a propane vertical. It was cold, not sure if it...

If you couldn't have an FJR what would be the next best thing?

At the moment in all likelihood it would be something as similar to the FJR as it could. An earlier post suggested a Kawasaki GTR1400 which I am embarrassed to say I did not know existed. Like the looks of that. New to FJRs so maybe I am still star struck with the mix of touring ability and git...

    What you do besides motorbikes?

Summer and into early winter are mostly out of door things. Sailing, fishing, guns, hunting and even a camping trip now and then. Winters are for wood turning, cooking and hockey. Much of the above are with the addition of grandchildren for year round entertainment.

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Nice! I looked at these a couple of years ago. Wanted one, but kind of spendy for my limited use so went a different direction. My son in law's boss uses one of these. They smoke a lot of things from sausages to various cuts and species of meats and always works well. I am sure you will like it.

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Daughter's boyfriend shot 3 deer this year. Last night we smoked the backstraps. Apple wood, 200 to 230 depending on how much I was paying attention. Pulled out of smoker (gas, vertical) at low 140 degrees. Let sit in 170 degree oven until all the rest of supper was finished. WOW! That was...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

So...did it work out? Or maybe had to spoon it off the bottom of the grill? :D

So who / where are these guys now?

Eight motorcycle enthusiasts pose for picture while one random dude flips them off from behind. Wonder if they noticed this before posting picture.

    Seat Confusion

That is both funny and a great idea. Also reminded me of a thought I had riding around yesterday. If Corbin seats require a break in period to form I wonder if a used seat already formed to someone else will ever truly synch up with my anatomy. Or I am thinking to hard.
