I’m going to throw this out there too, on my Vmax I had a kickstand switch intermittently go out while riding , almost killing my butt. In case the other post done work.

“The Why Not" gravel road”? I’ll tell you why: I drove down a paved road that turned into gravel on my 2010 Vmax and no where to turn around. I rode it maybe 3 miles gorilla gripping it the whole time. All I could think of was dropping and scratching it all up. No thanks! I’ve ridden dirt bikes...

At time of this reply, I’m currently in NC and Tennessee mountains riding on a new rear Mutant (only) and the handling is as good as the best tire as I’ve ever had. I’ve scraped the pegs a few times and no issues, I’m totally confident in the turns. But I can’t testify in riding in the rain...

That is my plan, It will be stored in until a long trip . I haven’t retire yet, so long trips aren’t in my plans for a year or so.

Thanks guys for all your replies. I should have mentioned that the one I have is not stock. The one I have is a V Steam, which seems like a quality shield. I measured it in the middle and it’s 23 inches. Overall it’s 25. Being new to the FJR, I don’t know what the stock is. I’m not confident...

Just purchased my first FJR (2017) and the Windshield is huge, not to my liking. I have been riding without Windshield or fairing for quite a long time and I’d like to replace it with a shorter one. Do you mind suggesting a shorter one (high quality) that I can mount for my daily use? Thanks guys.

Aah, but Gen II blows Gen I away with all the new suspension, ride and fantastic brakes, totally different ride. That’s after riding 25 years on my 1985.
