    Aux Fusebox location

For those using the EB Powerlink system. Do you have recommendations about battery and jumper lead lengths? There is an option to have negative or positive battery leads 6" longer than the other. Is this something that should be considered?

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

I'm kind-of thinking less is more in this case - as I pulled off a corroded hose barb, put the remnants of it back in and rode uneventfully home for 3 hours. I'm not going to "fix" anything on this beautiful machine until it clearly breaks.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

I got it all buttoned-up and up to fan temperature without any new parts other than the fabricated hose barb. I didn't ride it because it started raining and got dark. But all *seems* stable for now. Everything about it shows signs of rust and corrosion. I'll be very surprised if it continues...

Yes, JB Weld. It was a pretty good press fit too: I had to tap it in with a hammer.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

My Versys is the 300 X... To it's credit it does go off road. But it could renew the market for riding crops getting to the trail.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

I'm going through withdrawal not having this rideable. The Versys is like riding a tractor.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

There clearly is much corrosion in my cooling system. Hopefully fresh anti-freeze will be enough to preserve it. Maybe a good idea to prophylactically add some Bar's Leaks? I fabricated a replacement hose barb out of aluminum rod and epoxied it in. Couldn't find gasket material after three...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Recently purchased. Changed all fluids except for coolant - bc wanted to do with valves. Plan on valves this spring. Hopefully the radiator and rest of the cooling system isn't also on the way out.

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Other than it being a bit of a PITA...would it be a bad idea to try to cut a gasket to replace the O-ring?

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Damn. I ordered the cover before seeing your post of the correct way to fix this. I suppose I could return it for the cost of shipping...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Pump cover = $125. O-ring = $9. From the schematic on the Yamaha website it isn't clear that the hose barb is included in the cover - so fingers crossed. The barb does look like it was pressed in. I don't see any evidence of remnants left in the hole it came from, so I think whatever is missing...

2007 waits until water pump failure doesn't create a disaster

Friday I rode from Greenville, NC to Chapel Hill for a weekend conference. After the meeting and getting everything all packed-up, gear on, start while putting on helmet, look down in front of the right foot peg and see an evaporated drop of rust, and then follow up a streak or two of rust to...

Parts Wanted Could use a set of Gen 2 wheels...

The guys who found it while balancing think that because both front and back wheels have similar dents that it was probably a pot hole/curb/other obstruction at speed. They said it was both sides of the rim but I only see a dent on the right side. I think I'll take Oldjeep up on his generous...

Parts Wanted Could use a set of Gen 2 wheels...

Thanks to all for this excellent info! I'll post a picture of the front wheel w/right side dent. There isn't an obvious (to me - and my perceptual abilities are questionable) problem with the left side. The rear wheel has an identical issue. I though a bit of vibration was bad roads out here...

Or some advice about where to get current ones straightened

    Just finished first ride..

Just the ride from Ayden to Oak Island is a significant trip! This is probably common knowledge but I've discovered that if I ask Google Maps for bicycle directions it takes me on the scenic and less linear routes. And those would be particularly nice between Ayden and Wilmington.

    Just finished first ride..

I bought Yorksman's 2007 FJR this weekend and finally had a chance to put a few miles on it. It was a real pleasure to meet Yorksman and he patiently introduced me to the platform and clearly gave me a good deal on a well cared for machine. The few miles I rode today were after a several...

    Sold FJR 1300 2007

I'm very interested in your FJR if still available. I'm in Greenville, NC and so not too far out. I have a busy morning but should have time to connect in the afternoon if that is good for you. I just joined the forum and so am not sure of the procedures here or if there is a PM capability. LMK...
