    Shoei RF1000

I’ve had an HJC helmet before, it did fit well. Will take a look at them, thanks. The Shoei was shedding badly, so would have been unpleasant for a person to put it on. I do have a few other helmets I can donate however.

    Shoei RF1000

My Shoei RF1000 finally gave up the ghost. Interior foam began to begin flaking. Yes, know you’re supposed to replace your helmet every 5-8 years. This puppy went about 14 years for me. Great lid. Luckily I have two of them, and the other seems fine.     I didn’t want someone to pull this...

    Mysterious RAM X-Mount Failure

Oddly when I try to paste a link, nothing happens. But here’s a photo off amazon. Similar to the one lonerider posted, but no springs holding the phone, it’s a screw operated vice. So odds are there’s no way for the phone to fall off unless the phones case breaks. You just need a Ram camera...

    DIY FJR Passenger Floorboards

I used a fresh single edge razor to trim mine, using the side of the plate as a guide.    The pad material was a textured vinyl, which would cut easier than actual rubber.

Tank bra for a Gen II

Why are you scratching your tank? Can you sew? Perhaps you can make one. Leather be nice, or spandex.

    Air conditioned helmet?

Tell that to this guy... https://gl1800riders.com/forums/4-general-mc-message-board/175786-helmet-color-vs-temperature.html#/topics/175786?page=1 I always choose light colors because of visibility. Venting of course makes a big difference. But venting only really works when you are moving...

MotoBike Jack - pick your pig up off the ground!

I want to see the video where the bikes laying in gravel. The length of the ratchet handle makes me wonder how easy it moves for a truly heavy bike. Seems a longer handle would be welcome.

    Garmin InReach Mini: First Thoughts

What's the difference between this and a satellite phone? (Sorry I'm clueless about this technology)

Outdoor cover needed for this summer, recommendations?

I use a cotton sheet. (King size) I don't care about it being waterproof. Rolls up to a small package. Some thin rope wrapped at the corners and an elastic band sewn in the middle. Washable. Cheap And won't scratch your paint.

    tom tom 550

I honestly would wire it directly to the battery. If it doesn't have an inline fuse I'd install one. Assuming it has some type of cradle that you can leave on the bike and just remove the unit. The advantage here is you can check routes, places of intrest, etc without having the ignition on...

    Permanent oil drain valve

If all you need to do to drain the oil is move that small lever, I'd definitely safety wire it shut. ;)

    Tools, tools and more tools

You'll need to make or buy something like this to hold your beer while you work on the bike: https://www.solidrop.net/product/car-food-beverage-drink-cup-stand-mount-holder-tray-clip-table-foldable-round-car-drinking-bottle-holder-me3l.html

    Hydrophobic mirror film

Mmmmm. From what I saw in a video is they misted the mirror with water, then used a credit card to squeeze out the water and air bubbles. Not sure what you mean by two parts or layers, unless they didn't put that info in the video. Oddly it shows them pulling one layer off BEFORE they squeegee...

    Hydrophobic mirror film

Short write up on treatment options: https://canadiangearhead.com/the-best-rain-repellent-for-windshields-in-2018/ I've used car wax on my helmets visor before which did give good results. I do remember a few folks using Rain X on their plastic windscreens (although they say it's not for...

    Hydrophobic mirror film

I think that's the reason I was asking about the films and not the liquid treatments. I've seen them online from $8.00 to $15.00 and it appears you never have to replace or "renew" them, they seemingly last forever. Sometimes it's not about cost to me. Farkles are always an expense. If I add...

    Hydrophobic mirror film

From what I understand, there are hydrophobic treatments that work better than Rain X. (Like this one I'm told) https://www.amazon.com/Nanotechnology-Hendlex-Hydrophobic-Waterproof-Protection/dp/B01M04X75W Rain X also needs to be reapplied periodically. I've used it myself on my car and it...
