    Gasolina Boot opinions please

I, too, have very wide feet. I don't know about the Gasolina boot. After decades of wearing motorcycle boots that were "OK" on the the bike but torture to walk in, I found these: https://www.klim.com/Outlander-GTX-Boot-3926-001?quantity=1&color=2144. I have used them for two seasons and I can...

    Windscreen shimming

At 6'1", 33" inseam, I had the same issue as you do. I installed the Yamaha Touring widscreen and it helped, but did not completely solve the problem. I installed the Puig windscreen extender on top of that, which solved the problem. With the windscreen down and the extender down, the wind...

BrakeAway Throttle lock and heated grips??

I ride a 2007 FJR1300. I had a throttle lock and did not like it. I still had to fiddle with the throttle to maintain speed on uphills, downhills, etc. If it wasn't tightened enough, handlebar vibration would allow the throttle to decrease. If you tightened it enough to prevent that from...

    Seat options

I went a different route: Airhawk seat pad plus padded bicycle shorts. Works great for me. Best of all: total cost of less than $150.00CAN which is about 1/10th the price of a Russell Day Long. NB: Instead of padded bicycle shorts, you can also get padded bicycling underwear (Baleaf Men's...

LED Headlight Bulbs 💡 Gen 2 FJR

I checked these out using the link you provided. The "AmazonConfirmedFit" shows that these do not fit a 2007 Yamaha FJR1300A ABS. So I am asking just to confirm: You installed these in your 2007 Yamaha FJR1300A ABS with no issues?

Where do you buy your oil change kit from

I happen to still have 2 empty containers that I have not yet taken to the recycling depot: Castrol Go! Motorcycle oil SAE 10W-40 and Motomaster Motorcycle oil SAE 10W-40. They both say "Motorcycle oil" on the containers. In fact, the Motomaster container has "recommended for Harley Davidson...

Where do you buy your oil change kit from

Canadian Tire. Whatever motorcycle-specific oil is on-sale at the time. Same for the filter. I never had to change a crush washer and I never had a leak at the drain plug.

    Frame plugs

I only use the side cases when touring. I figure if (when?) I drop the bike, I will have less to repair or replace. I also never use the plugs. I figure nobody will notice those "holes" in the frame when I pass them on the highway or when I am riding the twisties or from the sidewalk when I am...

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

Rosskean, To answer your question: My wife followed me in her car and noted the following; in our residential area, where I ride very slowly (30 km/h) and brake very smoothly, the brakefree light does not activate. On city streets with traffic lights, it activates and is much more noticeable...

    Givi Maxia Tail-Stop-Turn project

That is one heck of a project and nicely done. Also way beyond my capabilitieso_O. I took an easier route: I bought a "Brake Free" helmet mounted brake light. It gives me a running light, a steady brake light with engine braking or slowing with the brakes, a strobing brake light with hard...

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

RossKean, You were correct, again! I took 15 minutes to remove the brake pads, hand-sand them with 80 grit sandpaper, then clean them with brake cleaner and re-install. The rear brakes are now 100%. Thanks again to all for the very helpful suggestions.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

Thanks to everybody for all your great suggestions. I decided to do the easiest suggestion first. I cleaned the rotor with brake cleaner and immediately noticed the rear brake "grabbed" much better even just at the end of my driveway. I rode to a local empty parking lot that had a nice strip of...

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

Thanks RossKean, Between your and mcatrophy's suggestions, I will go out and try to activate the rear ABS. If I get no joy with that, I will wipe the rotor down with brake fluid and see how that goes. Finally, I will remove the rear brake pads and give them a light sanding. Results to follow.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

Yes, I did bleed the lower piston on the right front caliper using the lower nipple and the rear brake pedal. No, I did not manage to engage the ABS system during my test ride. I will go out and do that today.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

I have received and mounted the "new-to-me" brake caliper on my bike. They were from a 2012 FJR 1300. Everything, including the pistons were in good shape. The brake caliper was, of course, free of any brake fluid. I flushed the entire system, raising the caliper above the brake reservoir and...
