Trunk lid retention mount broke, repair options or suggestions?

IF it were me - I would junk the "tape measure" retractor and just mount a static cable like every other brand of luggage has. The Yamaha retractor stuff is unnecessarily complex.

    Hitch manufacturers???

Swing arm hitch only works for single wheel, unless there is some magic I am unaware of 3rd wheel hitch is a good example of a single wheel trailer hitch. That is what is on my bike. Fwiw, prices must have gone up. I didn't pay anything near $1000

    More luggage options

The Skog a Kust is cheap no name. Like $20 when we got them on Amazon. So like 1/5 the cost of a kreiga

    More luggage options

In terms of dry bags, you can buy plenty of no name cheap bags off Amazon that work fine for floating your stuff while snorkeling. The ones we have are Skog Å Kust. If they stay dry in the ocean, likely fine on a bike. Had a Kriega motorcycle specific bag at 5x the cost and not worth the money.

Parachute effect? Even with my 52l there is no way that it is catching wind behind me. The top case is shoulder high.

    More luggage options

Many years ago a company called pasq started teasing a trailer that they were trying to build. Every year or so, they would post up some more drawings or sometimes a prototype. I thought they had a neat idea, but were taking a really long time to actually build something. So I got bored last...

    More luggage options

If you want to get serious ;) 52L top case and 42L side cases on a Ukranian made luggage mount and then a bunch more behind the bike.

Looking for advice on Tie Down Straps

That system is the only other way of tiedown I've ever seen a picture of a trailer on its side with the MC still at a 90 degree angle to the trailer.

Looking for advice on Tie Down Straps

A visual - Helps if your straps are not 2 miles long - bring some zipties if they are ;)

Looking for advice on Tie Down Straps

Tie front down at axle on fork tubes. Rear, just loop through rim to keep bike from flipping forward in panic stop.

    Mirrors for Gen1

Emgo FZ1 mirrors are just as good as the stock yamaha. I had the factory ones on my FZ1 and currently have emgo on the FJR

    Shopping for Seats

need I point out that a 225-300lb person has a lot of non seat padding?

    Shopping for Seats

For what you might pay to do that. I would suggest - sell the Sargent and order a Seat Concepts kit for your stock pans.

    NinWelly (XiTomer) throttle lock

Assembly instructions would be - remove screw and stock bar end. Install Kaoko like thing with same screw or new screw. It isn't going to be rocket science.

    NinWelly (XiTomer) throttle lock

Looks like a colorful copy of a Kaoko. I have had a couple real Kaoko and some throttle meisters. Kaoko easier to lock, but if you have big hands you need to make sure that they don't accidentally actuate the Kaoko style.

    Shopping for Seats

Like a seat pan with no cushion.

    Shopping for Seats

You need to decide if you are the tractor shaped couch cushion type or if you like something that allows you to treat the fjr as a sport bike and actually move your rear around. For me, I went from the stock seat to a Sargent. The Sargent was a mid tractor seat and hard like a rock. Stock was...

Anyone have AIRSOFT PELLETS in their tires?

I run them in everything. Not had any issues except for one time when I used some really goopy bead lube - some got in tire and beads stuck to it.

    Givi

I don't care what they look like either. Just disagreeing with the SR357 being any more integrated than slapping an adapter plate on the stock rack. I had the SR357 setup on the FJR before switching to my full GIVI side/top rack setup. The sr357 had the toilet seat adapter and the other one...
