    Yamaha FJR Pannier Loose Solution

I cut a piece out of an old inner tube, glued it in. Experiment. Add pieces until it's tight enough. If you suspect the locking piece isn't coming out far enough, I've measured a good one. (Click on image for larger view) It measured 40.5mm (or 1.6 inches if you prefer).

    Dunlop Mutant

My favourite front is the BT023. It handles well right until it's down to the wear bars, it's one of very few that will. Even its replacement from Bridgestone, the T32, drops off for the last thousand or so. Rear is less fussy, I usually put whatever Bridgestone my local tyre place has, the T32...

When you fit the locks, don't forget to Loctite the screws.

    i made a fly screen

NSrider is correct, originally made by Audiovox. The cruise control was later marketed by a company Murphs kits (https://murphskits.com/), but they no longer advertise them. Took a little fitting to the FJR, definitely not plug and play. An alternative would be an Australian product, the...

I can answer that. Cruise control switch panel.

    lock set

Most likely just congealed muck. If you think your only option is to replace it, you can lose nothing by agressively cleaning it. Try squirting WD40 into the key entry hole, flood it, then insert the key in and out a few times (if muck stops it going in all the way, it won't turn), then wiggle...

    Ivan’s Flash Tuning

No, it's me. I obviously got the wrong manual, and I don't seem to have the right one. Yamaha no longer list manuals for the FJR1300 on the European site, so I can't find one. And, of course, I can't remember how it's done. I'm pretty sure yours won't change, though, it's been an ongoing...

I don't think yours is switchable., however ... I don't have a link to the handbook pdf, the one I used is no longer valid. I can show you the relevant pages: (Click on image for larger view)

I agree we are unique. Besides that, we also buy our fuel in litres, but our fuel consumption is in miles per gallon (proper full sized Imperial gallons, not your US undersized ones), all produce sold in shops is weighed in kilograms but with a pounds and ounces equivalent. I buy milk in a...

I'm one of the ones that do do continental excursions. Just come back from about 2000 miles in Spain. I might even post it up here. I'd guess about 60, maybe more, motorcycles on the ferry. (If you really want to, you can read my write-up here, though it's still being amended).

I think you are right on both counts. Apart from aftermarket silencers (mufflers) and satnavs (and bling for posers), people tend to keep bikes pretty much as supplied, and because our mileages tend to be low by US standards, and dealers are generally closer, servicing is probably only once a...

    Ivan’s Flash Tuning

As far as I am aware, all UK vehicles have the kph scale. Picture below is a (random) one of my 2014 2010, the same as RossKean's above, and equally unreadable while riding. (Click on image for larger view) (Being stupid, I went into the garage to check my 2018's speedometer. Doh!)

Tyre diameter will be near enough proportional. The error deliberately built into the speedo reading isn't necessarily linear. It's up to the manufacture to choose how he interprets legal requirements and the range of tyre diameter over a sensible pressure range and as it wears. Does centrifugal...

    New Brake Pads

Make absolutely sure brakes aren't binding. I had an episode of binding brakes, led to warped discs. (Click on image for larger view) Disc "flat" on the bench and turned over Wrote about it here.

Stupid question, you have selected 'S' mode? I've had a 2006, 2010, 2014, and a 2018. All have very similar launches when the Gen3s were in 'S', 'T' makes for a relative sluggish response. Slight caveat, all of mine were YCC-S, but that shouldn’t make any difference.

    Third lock for 2022 FJR?

The three locks come with the bike, not the bags. They need to, to match the ignition key. Side cases and top-box are supplied without locks.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

The riding test is the proof that pedal to brake is functioning, it's not to test the ABS. If the bike didn’t have ABS, I would have suggested ensuring the pedal could lock the wheel.

    Rear Brake Caliper Assembly

Two questions, did you bleed that front calliper, and can you get sufficient pedal pressure to activate the rear ABS?

    Recommendation for Side Cases

Hopefully your original locks are still ok. New cases come without locks, easy enough to transfer. If you have to buy new locks, your original key won't fit, but it may be possible to re-jig the new locks to fit you old key.

    Recommendation for Side Cases

Side cases from any year will fit, only colour and decals change with the year.
