I tried to post a much more obvious hint last week, but somehow didn't save it. Let's go ahead and punt: This is the Mexican Railroad Trestle off hwy 82 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. We enjoyed 82 from Artesia over to Alamagordo, but took a recommended detour on 24 which got really good coming up...

I worked for a Danish company for the last 4 years until a few months ago. They are good people but they sure have the rules and the taxes. You have to name your kids from an approved list or get special government permission.

At over 8600 feet, the city where this abandoned railroad trestle is located is one of the highest 25 in the US. If you take out Colorado, it's the 4th highest, but the second highest in this state.

Ok, bigger hint... We were up here in the clouds by the above railroad trestle and just 34 miles later we were in a sandstorm in this location:

It's not in Mexico. But you might think it is.

We went up 395 in our Cali ride, but didn't make it across Sonora. I'll have to add that to the wish list. As to the lighthouse above, I'm pretty sure we haven't been there.

That looks like a Washington style ferry to me. Maybe near Seattle? The one I took was a lot bigger so I don't think I've been exactly there.

Sorry for delay in hints. It doesn't seem to be as popular as several other great roads in this area, so we almost skipped this road. So glad we didn't, because it was a good road with an awesome section near the bridge. It crosses a smaller part of a sodium related river. Big hint since this...

Thanks for addressing this. I wasn't upset about it, but with the error, I also thought it could be phishing for information in some way and I opted to not post anything on the forum until I saw it was legit.

Maybe White Sands? It's hard to tell if that is normal sand or Gypsum. We were recently in White Sands, but the wind was blowing so hard with sand in the air that we couldn't tell if there were mountains in the distance or not.
