    No good deed goes

It doesn't look that close to the sidewall to me either. I'd plug it and give it a try.

    New Harley Sighting?

Quarter-mile times would be interesting. But truthfully, in the real world it doesn't seem to matter a lot. At any rate, they're different bikes for different purposes. I recently did 5000+ miles in 12 days on the FJR. Five of those were 600 mile days. Would I want to do that on a Pan...

    New Harley Sighting?

I've got a friend I enjoy riding with who rides a late-model HD bagger. He's a heck of a rider, and I've followed him at well over 100 many times. He does things with that HD on crooked roads that I wouldn't have though possible if I hadn't seen it myself. :)

    10W-50 vs. 10W-40 Motor Oil

I've been following motorcycle forums either like this or on the old micapeak.com for, I suppose, right at 30 years, and I remember one. And from his description of his problem I suspect he had problems coming long before he changed to the oil he said caused it. If some of the oil analyses...

    Traffic Cop makes a stop:

I ride with a Harley rider occasionally that routinely runs 90+ on crooked roads in Arkansas. The first time I rode on a ride he led I was absolutely amazed at the pace he kept on Push Mountain Road -- with his wife on back. Then I rode with him on Hwy 7, when he didn't have his wife on back...

    10W-50 vs. 10W-40 Motor Oil

Dang them guys. It's gotten hard to find what I want on the shelves when I want it here too. Luckily I'm not that picky.

    10W-50 vs. 10W-40 Motor Oil

My 2013 manual lists 10w50 as one of the acceptable grades. I'd run it.

    Real men don't wear helmets

I opened this and was amused to see that I started it 9 years ago. OK, I know I'm too easily amused, but still ..........

New owner of 2013 FJR — tire recos?

A quick note to welcome another 2013 owner. I've had mine since March 2, 2013, and have just shy of 100,000 miles on it. I've had Bridgestones, Dunlops, and Michelins on it and haven't run one I don't like. Like Ross, though, I liked the Roadsmart 3 better than anything else I've run. I'm...

Any one else notice gas mileage has decreased significantly?

I'm late to the game, but I record the odometer and fuel at each stop and keep tabs. If 89 octane is available at the pump I use it because Ivan suggests it with the ECU flash. Otherwise, it gets 87 octane. My mileage varies with riding style, wind conditions, etc. just like everyone else's...

    Michelin Road 6GT

I was pricing tires a week or so ago. I'll be needing a set before a June trip. At the time, a set of PR5GTs was a bit more expensive that 6GTs. I thought that was odd. I've run Bridgestones almost exclusively since the bike was new, but the last set of T30s were so blasted hard to mount I...

Best price on Michelin or Dunlop?

How old is too old when buying a tire?

An old friend with terminal cancer gave me a 2005 Burgman in 2017 with less than < 1000 miles on the clock.  The tires were OEM and looked brand new, no checking at all.  Even so, I wouldn't even ride it until I'd changed them out. I would agree that if you doubt them there's a reason and...

Well, that makes me feel better.  I'm only 73 now.  :)

How old is too old when buying a tire?

New tires usually feel better than old, worn out tires.  Both my bikes feel much better now too.  :) The tires on the FJR had about 10,000 miles on them, mostly highway.  It's amazing how much better the new ones feel.

How old is too old when buying a tire?

I recently mounted a set of Bridgestones on both bikes and all four tires we dated in 2018.  I bought them when they had a rebate going and expected to use them more quickly.  At any rate, they were stored lying flat in my cool, dry shop, and I'm not the least bit concerned. Edited: Didn't...

North American Wild Card Moto-Tag Game

Will this work?  Technically, it's not on wheels, but if it'll serve the purpose I'll post a new challenge.
