    RJ Reactive Tent

Amazon gives weight as 4.65 kg (10.2 lb). Package dimensions 31.3" x 7.1" x 7.1". That is likely the cardboard box which is only slightly larger than the tent bag.

    Going to See the Eclipse?

Or $1.54 to $3.99 per pair, depending if you want 200 or 3 pairs. https://eclipse2024.org/glasses_order.html (Even cheaper from various Amazon vendors.)

    Going to See the Eclipse?

I'm in the path although I might ride 40 or so miles north to hit the center. Hoping the east coast isn't cloudy...

    Going to the Dark Side

10 years is well beyond recommended shelf-life for a tire. The degree of deterioration is largely dependent upon storage conditions but in a non temperature regulated environment with exposure to light, air and chemicals I would think conditions would be less than ideal. Even if the tire...

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

I hope you get to see some of Nova Scotia and western Newfoundland. Beautiful areas. Hope you have a great trip!

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

At least a bit of a relief in the early AM. If that RH was 80%, it would be unbearable!! Where I live, temperatures do not often exceed low to mid 30's in the summer. Tonight's forecast is for -20°C. Not unusual for this time of year but this year has averaged warmer than normal. Stay cool!

But cooling off reasonably at night. How is the relative humidity?

What did you do to your FJR today?

Not bad, but you paid too much for the batteries - local purchase, I expect. Name brand on eBay or Amazon for a couple of bucks each buying two - much less if you want a bunch. Still, $4.20 per year doesn't really figure into the cost of motorcycle ownership...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Seems logical, especially if there are no other anomalies such as failure to start, windshield mechanism, high beam indicator, signal indicators (both) lit etc. I would have expected that ignition switch problem would affect far more than dash lights but maybe they messed something else up when...

What did you do to your FJR today?

What year is the bike? I don't think I have seen dash lights completely out, but I have seen both signal indicators dimly lit and high beam indicator light on. This happened on my '07 at a stop on a hot day. Went away but came back a few days later. I didn't have other symptoms - glove box...

You will find that most Lithium batteries do not have as high capacity (Ampere-hour) as the regular AGM lead chemistry batteries. (Some provide a so-called lead-acid equivalent Ah rating. BS, for the most part!) They MAY have higher cranking amps as long as ambient temperature is warm enough...

What did you do to your FJR today?

If you have a "spare" battery, don't have both connected. If you do something like leave the ignition key on (or an unswitched accessory), it will drain both. I do a fair amount of motorcycle camping and riding in relatively remote areas and would not want to find myself with a depleted...

Get a voltmeter and monitor voltage while running stuff as you ride. If it drops below ~12.6 or so at cruising RPM, turn stuff off. This is the only way to be sure. Cell phone charger and GPS don't draw much. Auxiliary lighting (especially incandescent) and heated gear are the worst...

Looks like a satisfying maintenance cycle. Mine needs some similar attention but probably won't get it before winter. My T32GTs are past the wear bars and haven't had a chance to put on the Roadsmart IV I have waiting in the wings. Did you remember to do the shifter linkage plus brake and...

Any particular reason for choosing the Verge over the Ravens? I've heard good (and bad) things about both although it is one of the few tire brands I have not tried. They used to be a very low cost option but not so much any more. What was your overall opinion of the Mutants? I looked at...

What Do You Wish You Could Transport On Your Bike?

Google TV on Motorcycle for some interesting ideas. You might need a helper... (First one only works on a scooter.)

In the early GenII, heated grips were standard with the AE (auto clutch) model but had to he purchased separately for the A model. Became standard for all - maybe 2010? You can buy a few sets of the Oxford for the cost of OEM.

What did you do to your FJR today?

In the good old days, Yamaha insisted that you use their high priced final drive gear oil. Clowns among the early inmates dubbed the stuff "Whale jizz" - as justification for the outlandish expense. AFAIK, nobody has ever had a final drive blow up due to the use of a lesser lubricant. Mobil1...

What did you do to your FJR today?

Just a comment - not making this into a lubricant discussion! Never tried the 15W40 T6. Suspect it won't be very different from the 5W40 I have used for 300,000 miles on two FJRs. Mobil1 synthetic gear jizz works great. What's up with the heated grips? Never had an issue... Have a great...

If you do that clutch lever at least annually (before it squeaks), the brass bushing that engages the pushrod may last the life of the bike. Neglect it and you'll replace it every couple of years.
