Yup, ditch the topbox and crank up the contrast.

A new Senior Design project for me

Hello friends, You folks keep me fairly busy making the racks and footpegs and other stuff, but I thought I would try building something very different and challenging - a snowcat. You can follow along the build thread here...

    us colors by year

I am at the mercy of the blends that Colorrite prepares. Here is a handy chart I prepared some time ago for my reference.

Well, it would probably be more practical then either of these: the bike, that is...

Maybe the welding fumes got to me or ...

So, what would you tell your wife if you want to build one of those, eh?

dementia? In any case, as we all know, the cold season is here which means a slowdown in orders for farkles. I guess a backrest isn't really a stocking stuffer IYKWIM. So I have been a bit bored and thought maybe working on a small project would keep my inner mind gears greased and humming...

    Wire Feed Welders

I cannot agree with that or else I'd be using my Invertig instead of the SP-125 MIG machine.

    Wire Feed Welders

I have two MIG welding machines; a large Lincoln power mig 255c for big stuff and a small Lincoln SP-125, both are hooked up to gas (C25; 75% Ar/25% CO2) and burn solid wire. The small one gets the most use. IMHO, get the best welder with gas that you can afford. You'll either upgrade later...

    Powder coat wheels

IMHO, powder is tougher than paint. I believe the stock wheels are painted.

    Powder coat wheels

Oops, my fault. Those were a set of wheels I did for another rider. They are not off my FJR, although I also did mine similarly. I'll see if I have a photo of them.

    Powder coat wheels

Those are off my '04 FJR. I can do most standard colors (not Yamaha blue), but it may be cheaper to have them done locally due to shipping costs.

What Do You Know About Residential Solar Power?

My system was installed by a great crew in a day for $3.30 a watt and I'll get back roughly 40% of the cost in tax credits. I think you can buy just the equipment for half that but of course, you would need to install it yourself and have it certified by an electrician. Doing it yourself might...

What Do You Know About Residential Solar Power?

I have a 12.5 KW system installed and I paid for it up front. Its comprised of 48 panels wired into 3 circuits. Each panel has a micro-inverter. No batteries. Payback is about 14 years after the tax credits. Panels should be good for 25-30 yrs, lifetime warranty on the inverters. I figure...

    Powder coat wheels

I can powdercoat most parts - wheels are the largest. I have not had issues with powdercoating over, what I believe to be, painted parts. As a side note, the wheel hubs must be heated to remove the rotor bolts and bearings.

    Powder coat wheels

I would charge $30 each plus S&H. They would need to be clean and the bearings would need to be removed.

    Powder coat wheels

I powdercoated the wheels on my '04 w/o issue.

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

24" last I looked... I need to figure out a way to swap out my snowblower engine and drop an FJR motor in there...
