    RACE TECH G3 saga

Not for Georgians they aren't ;-) They're in Alabama, so it's sort of mid-south-easty.

    Damn rock

Been there done that: Got that in California on Mathole Rd back in 2009. The wonderfull California highway engineers saw fit to "fix" the road by cutting long rectangular 4 inch deep holes out of it, with sharp edges and no warning or markings. The coloring made it nearly invisible. At 60mph...

The Jerkiness of Jerky Motorcyle Throttles

I too thought that the lurch was only evident on the 2006-2007's ... I wouldn't suggest putting any lube in the throttle cables; that will mess with the teflon sheath. Here's the G2 he's referring to: https://www.g2ergo.com/store/g2-street-tamer-throttle-tube/ What that does it change the...

    Brake caliper help

I think you popped one of the pistons out past the seal. No big deal; pop it back in and bleed your brakes (do both left and right for good measure). The FSM explains how to do it; as will a google search.

    Minimizing wheel weights -- important?

That has also been my experience. If one of the beads aren't seated, in some places the tire will be further from the axle and that will have a pendulum effect, throwing off your balance. I found this out the hard way when trying to mount/balance a tire without running the compressor (as that...

Easy Way to Bleed Hydraulic Systems

Ok I didn't see the implied step of dumping the remaining old fluid (lines and caliper) before recycling it back into the master cylinder.

Easy Way to Bleed Hydraulic Systems

But what about the old fluid still in the lines and calipers? Aren't you pumping that into the reservoir?

Easy Way to Bleed Hydraulic Systems

They are available for 10mm sockets too.

Tranny (shifter) bokerforked (Found: star cam broke off the shift drum!)

Get some 2x4's and $4 casters from the hardware store and strap the lump to it and tow it!

Tranny (shifter) bokerforked (Found: star cam broke off the shift drum!)

I have idea. I have a spare 2006 (GEN 2) with 97k on it. But it is missing 2nd gear. So scratch that idea. I have another idea: I have a 2007 Gen 2 engine with 25k on it that runs great. But I think you have a Gen 1 so scratch that idea. I have another idea: That 2007 engine is in a 2006...

    Front End Vibration

I would suggest removing the forks first. With the weight of the forks on the triple tree you'll only feel the indents on the upper bearing, while it's the lower bearing that takes the brunt of the impacts, and that carries the weight of the FJR when you're actually riding.

    Are the wiring harnesses different?

It would be easier to load up a zero map.

Final Drive Swap: 6th gear solution?

It would be interesting to see just how much difference there is in pumping losses. I'm guessing it won't make a big difference in MPG.

Final Drive Swap: 6th gear solution?

I seem to recall a Kevin Cameron column in Cycle World a few years back, relating to MPG and gearing changes. His take on it was the the MPG was more influenced by wind resistance than gearing changes. Something about the same amount of energy is needed to overcome wind resistance regardless of...

    Fuel burning rich

When I ran the PC3 with the O2 connected it didn't run very good, and the CEL came on. My fuel economy tanked. But then again, this was a 2006; first gen may be different?

    Well s&$t!

Something similar happened to my Magna v30 back in the day (i.e. 2000). The centerstand foot lever had rusted to the point where it broke off. As luck would have it, a local salvage yard had one for $30. That was just wierd. Odd bike part available in a small southeast-MN town.

    Front End Vibration

Yep, I've seen this too. I change tires for my close group of friends, maybe 8-10 sets a year, and only three fronts proved to be defective (they were all Avon fronts). They were fine going on, but within three thousand miles they were unusable and replaced. Interestingly, I the Contimotion...

Gas Mileage dropping - no reason I can see

This tells me that this probably isn't the reason for your lowered MPG. Take them off the brake lines, else you'll risk damaging the brake hoses. It is much better to rebuild the calipers on a work bench than crouched next to a dangling pair. I don't know if you'll find a "kit" per se ... all...

Rear Wheel Removal on 2007 FJR

And put a 1/2 inch board under your center stand to give you a little more clearance below the fender to get the wheel out.
