Gen 2 Fork Disassembly - Advice required

Thanks Bryan, exactly what I was thinking, but afraid of. 🙁 I will have to make one of those for future use, but no time for my immediate need. I’ll just send the whole fork (less the spring, cap and misc internals to reduce size and shipping cost) to her and let her ‘tech’ pull it out. I...

Gen 2 Fork Disassembly - Advice required

Pulled a fork off of my ‘Parts’ FJR to send the inner cylinder to MEM so she can have her fork repaired. Thought I cracked the torque on the lower bolt before starting to disassemble, but now it just spins the internals as I try and remove it. I had turned off the cap and drained the oil so...

    Fork Seals - AK20 forks

Good timing on this as I will probably do seals on my Traxxion AK-20 forks this wrenching season as well. 👍🏼

    Call all Wiring Gurus!

Hmmm... a quick google search tells me "Snap-tite is a manufacturer of innovative high-pressure fluid power components for oil and gas, industrial and research markets." (<-- That's me, not you Bram. ;) )

    Call all Wiring Gurus!

LoL - well I guess it was clear to me. :) I'll reiterate: "If you've ever built a harness with wiring connectors to mate with the stock harness, could you please post which connector, where you found it, and part number if you have it." Basically I'm creating another sub harness and am...

Hmmm... I guess there are a lot less wiring gurus out there than I thought! :(

    Call all Wiring Gurus!

Thanks infrared. Jim at EB is my first go to guy for these type of things. I'll check out the others. Are there any connectors in particular that you've purchased and used on the FJR? Thanks Scottie. I'm a fan of PosiTaps as well. Have a collection in the toolbox at all times.

    Call all Wiring Gurus!

I always prefer to minimize the cutting/splicing/puncturing of the stock wiring by buying or making plug-n-play mini harnesses for my applications. I'm currently working on an alternate ignition switch but i'm a noob at this harness building stuff. So... I'd like to create a reference for...

    FJR Ignition current draw

Interesting info, Thanks. Have just been researching how I'm going to circumventing my key switch with a wirelessly activated relay and was wondering about how it would be easy to forget the on. Bottom line here is don't, eh? So I've been contemplating a timeout on the relay trigger. Probably...

Hooking up a voltmeter far from the battery

My plan (parts have been around a while, just haven't gotten around to the implementation yet) is to install the Voltmeter in a small project box with a On-Off-(On) SPDT switch wired to an SAE connector. I'll have this connected to my fused Tender lead from the battery. That way I can On or Off...

    Unforeseen Issue - Suspension/Hitch Conflict

I took a pic of the current location but haven't uploaded it anywhere i can share it yet. It is below and inside the left side rear bracket mounting bolts (right where the hitch will mount.) I'll be wrenching it on in the dealer parking lot this aft, so don't have a lot of time to play. Will...

    Code 12 Hell

Better than shipping the bike to a dealer and waiting for a new ECU/Key/Cylinder while on the road... if the ECU was the problem. ;-)

    Code 12 Hell

Canucklehead is rolling again. Off to Montreal to pick up Mrs. Canucklehead. Donal wasn't far off the mark. Apparently "Combination of a shitty Chinese battery and an old solenoid that was robbing"

    Code 12 Hell

You'd have to remove the old chip from the equation, (either by cutting off the head or having a none chipped blank cut to match old key,) but I see no reason why we couldn't 'fool' the system this way. There are no physical contacts to the chip is there? None that I can tell. That was discussed...

    Unforeseen Issue - Suspension/Hitch Conflict

Well, I'm prepping Jess for CFR and was planning on running to Lindsay Cycle tomorrow to pick up and install my new Bushtec hitch, but noticed an issue. The Traxion Dynamics shock has the cylinder mounted where the hitch needs to be mounted. :( Looks like I'll need to relocate the cylinder but...

removed rear axle on a 2007 ABS for the first time, seems to be binding on reinstall

... and relube the axle while you're at it. I've known of axles that almost had to be jackhammered out because they were ceased so bad. We presume the dealer that did the tire change didn't lube it at all, but you can never be too safe! ;)

    Side Panels Flared Out

 I have a couple stretches of road that always seem to get those freak 125+ MPH windstorms too! ;) I was going to comment about the susceptibility of the "visors" (as Yamaha calls them) to blow off when in the outer position and in high winds! I lost my left visor in a headwind of...

    PAIR Removal

Wondering why one would plug a hose with a socket or something like that when there is a perfectly good plug and clamp in the mess that was removed? (Unless maybe it's a Kali model and doesn't have the plug. ) Although I removed my PAIR, I didn't bother with plates. A couple bucks worth of...

    Enough with the near hits

I didn't get into the legality issues cause i figure your a big boy and can take the consequences if there are any, but since you commented that you didn't see how what you were planning contravened the law, i thought i'd point out what jumped out at me when I read Tom's post: Clearly your...
