I think I would vote bad battery rather than oil here. 34 degrees ain't cold enough to slow it down. I have however read of AGM batteries going sour from being on a charger too long. KM

I know it is not exactly the same thing, but have you considered raising the seat? Some aftermarket seats are lower than stock, and some are a bit taller , raising your butt higher up on a taller seat would effectively be the same as moving the bars farther away. KM
