    ABS brake issues

I was referring to the switches that close the circuit to turn on the brake lights when you apply the front and/or rear brakes. I am not sure if they do more than just engage the brake lights, but if they are also part of the ABS then they might be something to check. Again, you mentioned that...

    ABS brake issues

This may be an odd suggestion, but is it possible that either the front or rear brake engagement switches are stuck or shorted? You mentioned that the wheels roll freely when the bike is off, but not when running. This indicates an electronic issue to me, because the rest of the system operates...

    Bike Wont Start

The photos posted by the OP show that the buildup is mostly on the intake side of the cylinders The exhaust side of the head and valves look relatively clean. RossKean brought up a good point about the possibility of oil in the airbox. It could provide an explanation to some of the symptoms.

    Bike Wont Start

All ideas mentioned in the previous three posts are possibilities, but carbon builds up over time, and as others suggested, there would have been noticeable warning sins of it happening, and not a sudden failure of all 4 cylinders. The “valves stuck open’ explanation from the dealer after the...

    Bike Wont Start

Thinkingofone, I am doing as well as I can, trying to keep a positive attitude. I find the reasoning the dealer gave you hard to believe, but you are right: at this point you don’t have many options to choose from. I hope that the issue will get resolved in your favor soon! I wish all the best...

    Bike Wont Start

I am very sorry to hear about your wife’s condition too and understand how life is with living with the same, first hand. I hope that her condition will improve soon. Folks on this forum are trying to help you as much as they can with issues you post, and there are a lot of experience here...

    Bike Wont Start

I would be upset in your shoes too @thinkingofone. Mostly because of what the dealer is telling you: the ‘compression was between 35-44psi’ AND ‘the valves were stuck open’. Did they explain how they managed to get any compression at all? Did they offer some kind proof or for you to come in and...

STS Turn Signal Harness for Gen 3 FJR1300

@richardsutton I am sure that you will really like the STS module on your bike. You did a nice job! It looks like a lot of research and time went into your project. About the pin connections: yes, doing them manually is a PITA, but even an inexpensive crimper would have made the job much easier...

Key won't come out of gas tank lock.

I haven’t had a severe issue like you descibed. There were a couple of times when I had to push down on the gas cap with my other hand to fully lock it while turning the key and was able to remove the key that way.

Drive train "crashing" when engaged on a cold engine

@Dazza if you find a solution that worked for you, please report back to the forum. I am sure that someone else with the same issue will appreciate the advice.

Drive train "crashing" when engaged on a cold engine

All of the above are good suggestions for minimizing the initial “clunk”. @Dazza I have to ask - do you normally park your bike on an sight incline (driveway, etc.)? If so, it is possible that all the slack between the gears, u-joint, and driveshaft is taken up by rearward pressure. When you...

Cam Chain Tensioner...anything else while I am in there?

Maybe a throttle body sync (TBS) check and adjustment can be done too if you have access to a manometer. (After everything else is done, of course.)

    Brakes failed

I agree with the previous assessments, as the same happened to me in the past. The only thing that I can’t inagine is why would both (front and back) systems fail at the same time. That was not what I experienced. The OP stated: In any case, it is advisable to flush the brake lines and fill...

Both headlights, at the same time?!

@keithq Glad you found it and was able to fix the problem - at least partially. Good luck with the other stuff, and hopefully the heat will subside so that you can work on your bike for more than 5 minutes at a time. :)

Both headlights, at the same time?!

@keithq curious minds (like mine) would like to know what you found to be the problem.

    Noise from 3.5rpm

@horseydonkey glad you found the cause! Sometimes the hardest problems to find are the ones that are not the problem. Something else is. Maybe a different windshield might solve the buffeting problem too.

    Noise from 3.5rpm

@horseydonkey, is there a way you could record the sound of your bike (with a GoPo or your mobile phone) and post it here? Try to record the sound at lower RPMs, and then the change you notice when you raise the RPM to 3.5K or above in third gear. I don’t claim that I could figure out the...

    2014 with serious problem

I think that if the chain jumped, he would have noticed that on his 20 minute ride. If the chain is off just by 1 tooth, the bike would run, but noticeably not well. I am with you on a weak battery theory. Either something like a short or an accessory is draining it, or it is tired and ready to...

    2014 with serious problem

I agree with others. The diagnosis doesn’t seem logical. 1. With a good battery and low engine compression the starter would not struggle, quite the opposite would happen. 2. When you tried again the engine fired up, and ran fine on your 20 minute ride. You would have noticed if something was...
