    Master Yoda Riding Position questions

While the hands-off approach may be good for your forearm recovery, it is kinda dangerous. Turning your head to one side for a couple of seconds can have catastrophic results. I tried this on Rt66 near Beantown, IL and I looked over to wave at another biker on the paralled HWY 57. I ran off the...

My guess: Shaft is on left side of bike so drive alignment is based on the left side mounts of the frame.

    A maintance TIP for ya...

Whoa whoa whoa - were we supposed to move the plastic shields from the old shocks over to the new shocks? To quote Wilbers, "The BMW R 1200 GS models are especially vulnerable since the plastic shield on the OEM shock can not be moved over to the Wilbers shock, which leaves the new shock in...

    Hard turning in

Check your front tire. It sounds like it is cupped on the right side. That happened to me before. You may have an alignment problem or uneven pressure in the fork tubes causing the uneven wear. My $.02

    Snap throttle Big Bang Theories

There is an old Jackie Vernon joke that goes something like this: "I was talking to my doctor one day... I said, 'Hey, Doc, it hurts when I do this.' (Jackie pokes himself in the eye.) So my doctor says, 'Then stop doing that'

    Hella FF50 / Fuzeblock

I believe you are limited to 10 amps on each Fuzeblock circuit whereas the FF50 used to ship with a 25 amp fuse. I am no electrician, but you had better check it out before powering up.

    Fork oil changing-anyone tried this?

I think a guy with some wrench experience could do it in 3 to 4 hours first time out. A good mechanic less than 2 hours. I could waste a day at it, but that would include a few hours on the forum and coffee and lunch and a trip to the local Yamaha shop.

    overheating

I did the coolant flush and only get 2 bars mostly, but the frame near the steering head is too hot to touch after a brief ride (on low fuel.) Is that normal? Maybe my system has air in it?

    Ohlins Shock Installation on 2004

I just completed the same installation. At the FJRinfo site they used a ladder to prop up the tail but this tail raising rig is shown for your approval. No need for a hoist of other set-up. Just like raising a sailing mast. It is hooked on the front fairing support and to my Givi rear rack...

    overheating

Do you know the bike history? When was the last coolant flush? I just flushed my bikes system, and it runs cooler. Search with the word overheating. 3-4 bars is normal iirc. Welcome to the nut-house.

    bike wanting to fall left?

There is a BMW fork alignment article by Randy Glass that describes using plate glass to ensure coplanar fork tubes. Our forks are different, but the lowers should be in plane. You will need to remove the wheel, and brake calipers. Turn the lower tubes to get the smooth outer sides facing...

    Crampbuster

It is a nice cheap option, but beware: if you hit it when you are not ready it can really mess you up. I almost lost it due to that thing. Once you are used to it all is good. Not recommend for use with winter gloves.

    Movement

My Father in law was a doctor in a small town in Wisconsin. One of his duties was to visit the local old folks home. One day he overheard a resident exclaim: "Well, if you don't want to talk about bowel movements, then what do you want to talk about!" Don't feel bad, most of my attempts at...
