    Front Brake Caliper rebuild

FYI for all. The bolts holding the two halves together use a 10mm 6 point socket. I tried a 12 point but almost rounded it off. For those that have never done this here is the procedure. (I just did this on my 07 FJR) 1 Remove front wheel. To do this you have to compress the brake pads into the...

    Front Brake Caliper rebuild

Due to my manly fingers I need to split the calipers to get to the seals. Damn my man hands. I tried a 12point socket and got 5 of the 6 loose. One is being a bitch and I have almost stripped the head. Ill take that one in and have the shop take it apart and order a new screw. Not a major issue...

    Front Brake Caliper rebuild

I did the first time with Johnny80. PITA unless you have a serious shop a lots of tools. This time around I took it to a local Yamaha shop and they charged me $300 off of the bike.

    Front Brake Caliper rebuild

I am in the process of doing a caliper seal replacement. Just got the forks redone with new internal seals shims and oil now I need to do the brakes. They are sticking bad. What special tool do I need and where do I get it to seperate the two halves? Its an outy not an innie star. All help is...

    Enough with the near hits

Flyer, I was definitely thinking the same thing. Sitting on a taxiway at night and flipping on the strobes is more than irritating. Either a switch/pushbutton or maybe getting some sort of smoked lens to cover them to lower the intensity.

    Enough with the near hits

Bounce, I do not know where you got the idea of a red and blue flashing light. These are aicraft wingtip strobe lights and are clear white. Tominca, I do not see where clear white strobe lights used in conjunction with turn signals is against the law. Flashing lights are permitted to indicate...

    Enough with the near hits

For all the positive law abiding citizens that have responded to this post I do appreciate what you are saying. I do understand there are laws against things like this. I really do appreciate you letting me know and looking out for me, I really do. However, with the budget cuts in this area...

    Enough with the near hits

Thanks for all the answers. Alexi, that is excaclty what I was looking for. Thanks. The strobes I am going to use are not typical stobes. They are not for police cars they are for aircraft. I am going to use aircraft wingtip strobes. During the day they will get your attention like a...

    Enough with the near hits

For those that have ridden with me you know I am very hard to miss. I am 6'5 and nearly 300lbs with a bright yellow Olympia jacket. Over the last years since owning the jacket I have been nearly taken out 5 times. Well I have had enough. I am now taking things to the next level. I am going to do...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

Johnny, are you saying Beemerdon needs to go sleep with the fishes?

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

Geezer, read the earlier posts. I just replace the rear pads. There is normal drag, ie a very slight rub, from all of the brake pads. That was the second thing I thought about when I was having this issue.

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

LAF, As I installed the wiring harness all of the connectors were perfect. No currosion, wires and insullation were like new. There were absolutely no signs of an impending spider bite. Lets say for sake of argument that my bike was on its way to cooking the ground. By adding the harness will...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

Update, On Friday I added Brodies wiring harness to my 07. Once that was completed I also checked the spark plug caps just to be sure they were on tightly. One clicked once and another clicked twice but other than that they were all very snug. Saturday I rode two up to Orange County. The whole...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

Update, I pulled the brakes and all is as it should be. Put the bike on the center stand and spun the wheels. There is a slight rub but that is normal. As far as Ethanol is concerned that has already been accounted for. I use to get 240 and tank, but once ethanol came to Kali it instantly...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

To Answer Bob. I live just outside San Diego. The gas here has been iffy since I have lived here. Whether it has gone from winter to summer blend I dont know. It looks and smells like the same gas and there are no signs saying they have switched over to summer blend. Temps have been in the...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

To answer ION's questions 153 miles 5.2 gallons last fill up. Never trust electronics when an abbicus will do. Always fill on the center stand and I always top off to where the gas touches the bottom of the filler strainer. I removed the power commander because the mileage was going down...

    Seriously Bad Fuel Economy

Over the last couple of months my fuel economy has gone seriously down hill. Ive gone from 240 a tank to 150 a tank. I have had the valves checked, all within spec, I have new plugs, less than 1,000 miles on them. I use the same oil/weight and filter. I drive the same roads every day commuting...

    Possible Surging Fix

Actually Apex they are suppose to pull out. I broke a plug cap trying to remove it while it was still very warm. The plug cap is nothing more than a donkey dick with a cap on top. The wires are hard wired into the coils which are elsewhere. The $68 just pays for the donkey dick and cap not new...

    Oil pan replacement Question

Same thing happened to me only I missed the front tire but took out the oil pan as well. To replace the oil pan you will need 1. New header gaskets (4) 2. New Oil pan gasket (1) To get to the headers is a PITA. I used an allen socket with a 6mm wrench to take off the nuts holding the headers...
