    Lowering Kit

7/8s Kouba links, slipped the front forks 1/2 in. Corbin seat. Much more comfortable for my 29in. inseam. Slipping the front forks seems to improve handling. Need to exercise caution going over curbs and speed bumps. Filed the bump stop on the side stand to correct lean angle when parked. Worked...

I rode my new FJR home from the dealer today - Clunk/rattle!/lower fairing issue?

Put it on the center stand, have someone sit on the passenger seat or weight it down somehow. Grab the front forks and pull back and forth to see if there is any play or noise. That will tell you if the steering head bearing is properly torqued. You can also check the rotors at the same time as...

Welcome from the Big Apple and congrats on your new ride. Enjoy! (y)

    Ignition switch

Yes I've heard that. Just another way this dealer screwed me.

    Ignition switch

When they did the recall on my 09 I wound up with a new ignition key. Were you able to keep your old key??

    Ignition fix

I'd be one of those complainers. The stealer handed me the new ignition key after the recall work was done. Didn't bother to discuss it or inform me ahead of time or give me any option. This along with the other ways they screwed me. Truly a shame, a formerly good dealer who I would recommend...

    I'm a little bummed out

Yes spots under the fairing and a bit of spluge at the bottom of the fairing at the front. I definitely need to get a closer look. Coolant looked okay and the spluge seemed too thick to be coolant. Wondering if the spluge could have accumulated over time without me noticing and finally dripped...

    I'm a little bummed out

A possibility. Did the oil and filter about 1500 to 2000 miles ago and could be responsible for the stain but the spluge at the front of the fairing is still confusing me. Will try a better look today

    I'm a little bummed out

The quick visual I did didn't see anything near the exhaust and there hasn't been any oil burning odor, coolant looked ok. Maybe I can get a better look today.

    I'm a little bummed out

    Not California. No canister. 🤷‍♂️

    I'm a little bummed out

That's kinda my question also. Forks are dry, calipers are dry. The spluge at the bottom of the fairing seemed too thick to be coolant. I took another look later on in the day to see if there were any fresh stains and didn't see anything so now I'm thinking could this have been from an old leak...

    I'm a little bummed out

Ok noticed a couple of oil stains on the ground under the front of the bike. Gave a quick visual but couldn't really see where it could be coming from. Found some spluge on the bottom of the fairing below the radiator and it's gonna be too hot today to even begin to investigate in ernest. Anyone...

    Pivot Maintenance - FJR Stand?

I've done this in the past (same lift) without issue however you need to secure the bike from tipping (almost lost it once). :(

    Wind Roar

I've been running the Rifle for years with no complaints. I originally thought I would need to switch back to stock for the warmer weather but due to the angle on the Rifle I found it was unnecessary. Gets plenty airflow under the screen, though I know you prefer the shorty shields so you may...

    Electrical Issue?

I used zip ties through the terminals. Made two loops pulled straight up no prying necessary easy peasy. Same for the installation. 😉

    lowering 2014 fjr

In my case in addition to the links and fork adjustment went with a Corbin seat which will also get you lower. Also did the grind on the side stand worked fine but never got around to the center stand. Been using the wood trick though I thought I read somewhere that the 13 and up center stand...

    Lowering advice please.

Lowered mine with Kouba Links 7/8s and slipped the forks 1/2 in. Anything more than that may give you clearance issues. Also added a Corbin seat but I don't recall how much lower that brings you. If you do lower your ride beware of curbs and speed bumps. This setup works for me but of course YMMV. 😉

    Misaligned steering?

Off again on again jiggity jig. Done now I can obsess about something else. 😁

    Misaligned steering?

Yeah I feel the same way. My OCD will haunt me if I don't.  I was just hoping someone would say no big deal go ahead run it. No problem.

    Misaligned steering?

Yes. That was another part of the reason for the disassembly. Finally after all these years just bought the steering head socket which makes it a snap except of course for the riser bridge.
