Ray, the Spyder is the same way (chip in the key fob). I ordered the base key from the dealer and took that to the locksmith and they cut it to match the original. See if they can get an uncut key to you with the chip in it. ;)

Had a friend who had one. The engine blew up and left her stranded. No one wanted to touch it to try to fix, repair, or replace. She ended up parting it out. But you're kinda handy with tools, ain't ya? ;)   If reliability, parts availability, or dealer support aren't issues, go for whatever...
