    Saved by a Helmet Tap--Again!

In the literature given by PENNDOT for motorcycle learners, they listed the head-tap as "Your headlights are on." Nice try, PENNDOT.

    Passing Cattle trucks

I'm in the fast-as-you-can camp. This also goes for riding when fatigued, riding in traffic, inclement weather, etc. Spend as little time on the road as possible by maximizing your speed in such situations!

Braking in a curve / Improving my riding

Bungie mentioned that my recent offroad experience was due to a "combo of target fixation and full blown panic." Yeah, if you add that I leaned on my grips pretty hard, which IMHO makes it very difficult to turn the bike. Sort of a lock-up situation. So really three things, none of which are...

    FJR vs 1198

An 1198 is like a hot but crazy woman. Riding once or twice would be a blast, but a relationship is out of the question. YMMV on both accounts.

Riding Tips from a Class-A CHP Moto Officer

Key part right there. I'm not a great low-speed rider, but I've given it some practice and as a result am better than I was. Getting better still. Keep practicing!

    Facebook stupidity.....

I'll agree to tip #2, but only if tip #1 is "Admit NOTHING!" Dumber than doing it, dumber than posting it on FB - fessin' up when there might not be enough hard evidence to convict. But then, I don't have all the details, so maybe the popo had more than the article says.

    What would you do?

Every new rider has to buy a bike some time, don't they? Otherwise, how will they be reasonably expected to become an experienced rider? I would think that an 87 VFR (500cc, yes?) would be a pretty good bike to learn on. I mean, it's not like you were selling a 'busa to a first-timer. That...

    Why *I* hate texters

Disclaimer - I am NOT trying to blame anyone in that video for anything. Just trying to point a few things out and give ya something to think about. I noticed that the rider seemed to have a fair following distance form the car in front of him. But did you notice how that car was tailgating...
