Tracer 9 GT as FJR Replacement?

Being on the ST Owners forum I see the FJR being around for quite some time even if Yamaha ceases production. Someone will post a RTE on that board and maybe one or two ST's will show with all others being Yamaha's, BMW's, and various other brands. Of course the ST has been gone since 2012ish...

Is a FJR a money thing?

I don't recall any bike I have owned (43 so far) that is easier to maintain than the FJR. OIl change, easy. Air filter change, 20 minutes. My Goldwing air filter change is a weekend. Moly up the driveshaft during rear tire change, easy peasy. Spark plugs, tilt the tank and its done. The FJR...

Don't forget about the Honda ST1800. You will never have to replace fork seals again.

New to me ST or new FJR?

I had two ST1300's and the current FJR at the same time. The FJR remains and the ST's are gone. Sold the two ST's and brought home a 18 Goldwing. Had one of the ST's outfitted with RaceTech suspension (highly suggested) and a McCruise. Did the bluegauges thing so I could read the display...

Sport touring seat for a Honda Blackbird

Another thought, search around for local guys who do upholstery work.  A little firmer foam and a cover is well within their wheelhouse sometimes.  That way you could have it done exactly the way you want it. Sport touring seat for a Honda Blackbird

Sargent.  Not sure if they still offer a seat for the Blackbird but they can take your stock pan and build it like you want.  Had them rework a Corbin seat on a BMW once for K100RS and it was probably the best seat I ever had.  Put close to 200, 000 miles on that seat.  They have a build sheet...

She's Gone: musings of a former FJR owner

Luggage space on the 18+ Wings are adequate.  Smaller yes and so is the rest of the bike.  Just got off a one week trip on mine and had enough room for everything plus 24 bottles of water.  Two up might be a problem but I'm solo so it works for me.

    Sport touring on a GSXR-1000

34" inseam here.  Too much to fold up on the Gixer but good for you.  Never thought of a Gixer for touring but you have mastered it it seems.

1981 Honda CBX SuperSport followed me home...

That's really a pretty good fairing. I put over 90K miles behind the same fairing albeit on a V65 Sabre. That bike got me started down the sport touring way of doing things. Coming off a V65 Magna it took some adjustment but have never looked back.

The Honda bags and sport fairing make this a real collector. Not many of those left. Congratulations and sweet bike.

    no longer a FJR owner

I bought a 95 Buell that was their sport tourer at the time. Always said if Harley would build a sporty bike I would try it. I did and it was a piece of shit. Fairing mounts broke twice, first ride of 60 miles one of the header pipes came off because the nuts came off the header bolts...

thinking about a g/wing need feedback

Also consider a K1200LT. More nimble than a wing, about the same weight, and kills the wing on gas mileage. The big beemer handles far better than it should for a big bike. I had one and my buddy had a wing and every time we would fill up at around 250 or so, He would take 1 to 1.5 gallons...

    Hyosung GV650?

I have been in the same dealership. Looks like it is on its last BMW legs. Sad too because they used to have parts in stock for my older K100RS when I would stop in. Nice folks. The little hyosung sport bike looked pretty decent. Older technology, but clean lines. Since BMW went the way of...
