    Givi V46 Affects Handling

I 2nd what SwollenRaccoon wrote. I too noticed a bit of “twitchiness” riding solo at speed with the OEM top case. This whether the tail case was empty or heavily packed. Was a lot better with a bag on the passenger seat, and completely gone with a passenger.    So definitely an aerodynamic...

    End of an ERA

As humans, we have learned to adapt. I too traded my FJR in for something a bit “lighter”, more for practical reasons than physical ones. Our 50 ft driveway is at about 19 degrees and made of loose rock. Going up it, (and especially down it) on the FJR made me a bit nervous. Not to mention many...

Hello from Milwaukee~~I am in over my head and need help please!!

First thing I learned on this bike was to be very deliberate and precise on how I applied the throttle. I read about some installing a different throttle sleeve as they claimed the throttle was “twitchy” or abrupt.      Never got that, just seemed one had to reprogram themselves because it...

    Time to say goodbye

This was the biggest issue I had with my FJR. Luckily it was a 2006 model, and I was able to swing out the “adjustable” bars about 10 degrees after pulling a positioning pin and pushing them out as far as I could.    The pain and discomfort went away. As your model lacks the adjustable bars, I...

    Leaving the flock...

Welcome to the Triumph side of the street. Traded my FJR in on a 2012 Bonneville 7 years ago and still happy with my choice: The Triumph forum mentioned above is pretty good. I still hang around here though

    Learn from my mistake!

Yep, not going by the flow chart. You move downstream. If something sticks, lube it and then go from there. Don't know how many times we had someone think their throttle return spring was bad when it was just a sticking throttle tube or cable. ;)

    Dropped it

Gravity is a cruel mistress. I dropped my FJR the day after I just added front sliders. The event occured when coming down the steep hill I lived on, I tried to make a U turn up the curb to my driveway and back up the sidewalk. Was in first, feathering the clutch when all forward momentum...

    Slippery seat problem.

Well it's not as bad as the "seat" on Mr. Garrison's monocycle from South Park...... ;)

    Slippery seat problem.

Odd. We put Armor-all on our seats when at the track so we could slide around. I guess what the OP really needs is this: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Repositionable-75-Spray-Adhesive/?N=5002385+3294224956&rt=rud That will keep you put, and it's repositionable ...

    Slippery seat problem.

Neatsfoot oil. Conditions leather and won't make it slippery. I've used it on saddles (like for a horse) and it works fine. A leather seat doesn't need to "breath" , its dead. ;) The problem with mink oil is the stuff available today contains wax...which may just make the seat more slippery.

    Adverse weather riding

+1 on what mcatrophy posted. I will say I was fairly impressed on how much drier I was in a downpour compared to being on a "naked" bike like my current Triumph. Stay loose and be smooth as hell with with shifts and braking. ABS a plus to have here. Getting your visor in the wind too a good...

    Linked brakes not so bad

German engineering..."We got a great idea. We will make it work even if it requires more complexity" Japanese engineering..."We got a great idea. If it doesn't work out and we have to make it more complex to get it to work, we will try another approach" Italian engineering.... "We had a great...

    Short Rider Questions

Not getting the importance of being able to get two feet flat down at one time over getting both feet down "on the balls of the foot". If you are walking a bike forward while straddling it, you're doing so on the balls of your feet, not your heels. Ditto pushing it backwards. Your are not using...

    Short Rider Questions

Well the OP's question wasn't about lowering the bike, just asked how riders under 5'10" deal with the bike. It's evident that many find no problems that they can't find alternatives to. I remember seeing some guy straddling his bike in a parking lot and trying to roll it foreword into a space...

    Short Rider Questions

Boots with thick soles and a Corbin seat worked for me. (5' 7-1/2") It was not so much the seat being lower, although it was, but it was narrower, which gave a straighter shot for feet to touch down. Both of them.

I'm new here and have a couple of questions on my '13 FJR

"Will have to find the Yammi touring screen (hopefully used), as locally new they are $240 plus tax." If you can find a used Cee Bailey windscreen, I highly recommend them. Unfortunately they no longer make motorcycle screens. Haven't stayed current on aftermarket parts, but would guess you...

What to do with a high mileage 2003 FJR ?

I'll go $175.50 for it. The question is do you need the money? It might go another 80,000 miles or may blow up tomorrow. If you bought a new one, I vote for a Viking Funeral... set it on fire and roll it into the sea ....
