    first long ride on FJR

Motorad - the FJR will be "The One", I assure you. Like you, I had a big gap inbetween riding bikes and in the last couple of years I've had no fewer than 11 bikes!!!! That includes the new Honda CBF1000 and the new Guzzi Griso. I never kept any of them for more than a few months and then I...

    Newbie questions

I lowered my 07 FJR with a dogbone kit. The bike dropped by 30mm and handled like a bag of shit. It's now back to normal height and I'm currently undergoing leg-lengthening surgery.

    first long ride on FJR

The longest single journey I've done is about 300 miles and I wouldn't honestly want to go much further in one day. To me, it's not about putting miles on your bike, its getting the most out of the miles you travel.

Do people ask you what your bike is??

I went to Warrington today to pick up a cartridge for my Linn and I parked the FJR right in the centre of the precinct. When I came back 10 minutes later, there were 8 foreign visitors taking turns to have their photo taken with one hand on the throttle as if to claim ownership :D I...

Hmmmm, wonder if the "new" grips will be able to be fitted to the 07??? And WHY has the screen-mount been altered? Has anyone experienced problems?

Do people ask you what your bike is??

Yes, I get that too.

Do people ask you what your bike is??

I don't know about you guys, but a lot of people never seem to know what make or model my bike is. In all fairness to non-bikers, the FJR is quite subtle in declaring its manufacturer's name and its capacity, so because my bike doesn't have the two stripes on the side (it's an 06 model), I was...

Riding the FJR in Heavy Rain

Bad rain has NEVER stopped me from riding bikes. Never will. But having EXPERIENCED aquaplaning myself, and the HORRIBLE feeling of complete and utter loss of control, I have learned to slow right down where and when appropriate. I don't want to die or be disabled for the rest of my life and...

    soft, or hard?

I find the ride is FAR more enjoyable with the SOFT option, so I stick to that unless I'm carrying pillion.

Emphasis and Value on Cosmetic Appearance

Would you buy a bike in this condition for $1000 less than clean FJR's? Would these sorts of things scare you away from buying the bike? I would not buy a tatty discounted bike if I could find a minter for more money. I absolutely love my bikes and I see the cleaning and maintenance as an...

    Dropped the Feejer today :-(

I used the "He-Man" technique but ended up looking like She-Man :angry2: The bars were already at full lock, so I put both hands on the throttle and applied the front brake, then pulled like a bastard. To no avail. I was losing my footing on the gravel and knew that it could end with a...

    Dropped the Feejer today :-(

I pulled onto a gravel & stone carpark today and as I turned the bike I hit a rut in the ground which caused the bars to be swung to the right and at the same time the bike stopped dead. I was thrown off the seat and the best I could do was to lay the bike down as slowly as my strength would...

    The Torque-Curve

Thanks JW but that looks like a BHP curve.

    The Torque-Curve

I was telling a friend recently about the huge 100ft/lb torque of the FJR1300 and he asked what revs were required to reach that 100ft/lb. I told him that it was somewhere around 7000rpm and he said he preferred his torque to be produced at much lower revs. Well hell yes, so do I, but I didn't...

    AE shifting

I've gotten almost 3000 miles on the bike now and I have started to use the finger-shift much more BUT i don't use my thumb to gear down, I use my finger to do both the upshift and downshift. It's so damned easy that way. For reasons beyond my understanding, I must admit that I can do smoother...

FJR + short inseam + uneven pavement = oh crap...

I've got 29" inside leg (inseam) and I'm about to install the ride-height lowering kit this weekend. I got it from the FJCLUB. Should lower it about an inch. Must admit though, I'm concerned about the effectiveness of the sidestand when the bike's lowered, not to mention the increased effort...

Weekend Trip to Scotland & Ireland on FJR

Forgot to mention that when I was back in Scotland I stopped at a Little-Chef for breakfast and spotted 4 old Bentleys in the car-park. Three of them were the Supercharged 3.5 Litre jobbies. Fantastic!!! And hey Zodiac....... sure, I'dd do a "Holiday Swap" with you B) You can use my...

Weekend Trip to Scotland & Ireland on FJR

By the way, what appears to be bright rectangular patches on the back of the panniers are in fact, those black reflective stickers. The camera-flash must have lit them up, cos during the daytime you obviously can't even see that they're there.

Weekend Trip to Scotland & Ireland on FJR

I was havin so much fun on this fine bike that I didn't want to stop for ANY reason. Normally, I'm stopping all the time taking photos, but not on this run. I just wanted to enjoy those roads and the FJR. Only ones I did take are here.... And a pic of the tiny 2-bedroom house which my Dad...
