    Odd 1st gear issue

Agree, but it shouldn't do that. I would first of all have a look at the shift linkage to make sure that it is moving easily. It is a good idea to take it apart annually and clean/lubricate moving parts. I would then look at the parts fiche for the shift shaft and make sure that the springs are...

    2015 FJR Headlight mount

Nope. I once had a headlight socket burn out and I replaced it. Not entirely sure what they mean by the 4 post headlight mounts. Who changed the bulbs the last time?

Can you order a 2024 FJR in a different color?

Or you could buy a lightly used "Liquid Graphite" from 2020-21. Or a Matte Blue from 2018-19. Mechanically and electronically, the bike is the same.

Can you order a 2024 FJR in a different color?

Nope. Only one color available per year, at least in the US. In Canada, they somerimes had different colors for A vs ES models but no A models in recent years. (A is without Electronic Suspenson). Canada had the black/gold scheme in 2022.

Valve check/Valve adjustment in Dallas-Ft. Worth

Hopefully they will get you diagnosed and fixed up although they might not cover it if it turns out that the issue is related to something you did when you did the valve check.

Black on gold FJR. Only in Japan?

It was offered in Canada in 2022 as an "Anniversary Edition". For 2023 and 2024, Canadian colours have been the same as US. Very sharp looking bike! I haven't seen one in the wild.

    New to FJR-On to Newfoundland

    Where in Newfoundland?

Valve check/Valve adjustment in Dallas-Ft. Worth

Never heard of FJR valves getting looser, unless it was due to carbon buildup rather than wear. Maybe just me, but I haven't had to adjust exhaust valves on my bikes (185,000 miles on the 2007). Just intakes...

    New to FJR-On to Newfoundland

138 doesn't go to anywhere in Newfoundland. You'll need to be more specific on your routing. Two usual ways to get to Newfoundland and Labrador by bike or car. 1) Ferry from North Sydney: Most people take the Marine Atlantic Ferry from North Sydney Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques in...

    What are buttons for?

Yep. On all AE from 2006 until the model was discontinued in North America. Connectors existed in early "A" models so the (expensive) heated grips kit from Yamaha could be easily installed. Not 100% sure, but I think heated grips didn't become factory standard on all Gen II until 2011.

    What are buttons for?

Wow, that's a REALLY low mileage '07. (I sold mine five years ago at 185,000 miles.) Don't know if you noticed or not but the original poster is from the UK so any pricing from that market wouldn't be relevant to VA.

    What are buttons for?

There is a square cutout whether or not it has factory heated grips (my '07 did but with a blank plate and no heated grips). Controller is on the left panel below the glove box. Note that the bike MIGHT have aftermarket heated grips (or cruise control) with controls not in the usual places...

    Purchasing new '23 questions

His profile says Texas, but I agree that it may depend upon location, at least for the bag liners. They have been an optional "extra" in Canada for at least some years.

    2004 FJR1300 fuel filter...?

Didn't change mine in 186,000 miles on my '07 or on my 2011 in 100,000. Any external filter would have to be pressure rated (spec for Gen II is 47 PSI). Same for hoses, connections and fittings... You would want to make damn sure you didn't split the filter housing or have a hose pop off (or...

    2004 FJR1300 fuel filter...?

I have never replaced one in almost 300,000 miles on two FJRs. Probably wouldn't bother unless I got a bad lot of fuel from somewhere. Where did you get the filter? Did you open up the old one to see if it was plugged with sediment or just discolored?

    2004 FJR1300 fuel filter...?

Trouble is that with the pressurized fuel system, leaking could be an issue although I'm sure they could engineer something that would be secure. An aftermarket filter with barbed fittings wouldn't be safe under pressure.

    Purchasing new '23 questions

Yes to the Garauld rack/backrest, no to the windshield. Can't say about the bag liners, but AFAIK, the locks should come as a set of three - two for the bags plus a spare for the topcase.

General consensus - Should I rebuild calipers on 2013 A at 24k miles?

Front and rear are done individually and once or twice a year should be sufficient. I deliberately exercise my ABS on a semi-regular basis - typically on a sandy paved parking lot. https://www.fjrforum.com/threads/test-and-maintain-your-abs-system.136000/
