From R1 to FJR; my observations

Great move! It's not nearly as fast rip your arms off, tweaky fast as an R1 but the FJR has the torque to make it a blast in the twisties, and the top end hp is respectable to keep you near just about anything when having fun.

fork seals leak in the cold?

Both of mine did that last spring after taking out of cold garage where it sat all year (44k on the bike then). Ran a seal mate around both and they've been fine for the last year. I wouldn't mess with replacing the seals just yet.

YZF-R1M Technology coming to FJR's anytime soon?

The Gen3 already has electronic on the fly adjustable suspension, fly by wire throttle with different throttle maps - sport / touring, ABS and traction control. It basically already has integrated or a simplified 'two choice' system of many of those things the M version allows a rider to more...

WOW. My 2008 trade-in is still sitting on showroom floor....

You'd think they'd get a hint after 2 years. About $2500-$3k too high!

    09 rear brake issue

Try to get the ABS to activate if possible as well. There may be a option in the back menu to cycle it but I forget. After that, rebleed the rear brake circuit.

    Something else to loctite...

Old post but better than making a new one. First ride today this spring and found out this larger torx bolt was nearly falling out it was touching my shifter it was out so far. Check them out on your bike!

    FJR vs M109 Susuki

Just the geometry of the cruiser being long and low you can launch it a lot harder than an FJR. Having said that, .8sec on average is a HUGE difference in the quarter mile, as several other people said. Remember, not only is the FJR crossing way earlier but it has achieved a must fast trap...

    2015 FJR impressions

Love the color on the 15's. Nicely setup bike. You going to put the stock shield back on the summer? Love the stock shield in the down position. Don't agree on the rear canyon cages, would much rather replace a saddle bag or just the cover than have the bike catch and flip and total the...

Lesson #17 for Fifty-Something, New FJR Owners with Bad Backs

OP like you say I prefer to use the rear grab handles so I don't have to bend over much at all. Both work well though and it's pretty easy for me. Seen many people have trouble with center stands.

Look what followed me home today.

Probably use about 180 for a solo even though that is very light for American 'standards' especially once gear is added.

Lesson #17 for Fifty-Something, New FJR Owners with Bad Backs

nice work, still some lifting/pulling going on there. What I'm saying is just a foot on the centerstand, no hands anywhere else. It's certainly all about the technique, but I think people were giving the OP a somewhat false image.

Lesson #17 for Fifty-Something, New FJR Owners with Bad Backs

Actually a 190/55 is a taller tire and will raise the bike just slightly, making it a bit easier to launch onto center stand. The 55 is a sidewall ratio of the width of the tire. There is some lifting/pulling involved on getting the bike onto the center stand. If they think there isn't I want...

How do you lift a bike for maintenance?

I use a strap around the handle bars to jack the front end up off the ground with it on the center stand

    Aging Bike Options

Cool. If that issue started right after working on the starter then I'm sure it's just something stupid going on. Get that fixed and keep it for loading the miles on, or sell it for $2k.

Tony, How is the 05 running at this point in time?

My battle against vibrations and how I won

It's the buzz of the inline4 people complain about, some bikes have more than others or people are more or less tolerant. On mine when I wind 3rd gear up to redline it will really buzz the seat pretty good. Sometimes my throttle hand will have issues with the high frequency buzz in the bars...

My battle against vibrations and how I won

So I got to do a good test ride on a Harley and while they shake your fillings loose at idle, once in gear and moving they are way, way smoother than the FJR.
