I've bought and used the Cobalt Blue from Coloright. If you plan to paint more than a scratch you'll need more. They sell it as a two color coat process which actually turns into a 4-coat if you go primer, blue basecoat #1, blue mid-coat #2 and clear topcoat. I've not had much luck getting it...

Timing is everything. I just finished repainting a pair of lids for Mr. Slaton. Here's a photo of a donor lid and the two finished Cobalt lids ready to ship tomorrow.

I've seen a number of cars in parking lots that look very similar in color; they have a different colored pearl in the paint. I suggest hitting the local mall and see if you can find a match.

FWIW, I use a large pair of Channelocks and just twist them off. I tape a strip of aluminum flashing to each jaw so the jaw teeth won't leave makes on the reflector body. A rag with a bit of naptha removes any leftover glue residue.

I would not expect a good color or matte finish match if you ever had to get a lid repainted. Just don't drop it - right...

These bikes are more top heavy than your previous rides. Be cautious when making very slow speed turns, especially short U-turns.

You could weld it. Get some ABS filler rod (Harbor Freight or EBay) and with a soldering iron/gun, melt the areas next to the crack and merge them while adding filler. A little sanding, bondo and touchup paint should hold up well.

Jay, before you start filling up that big ole trunk, be sure to research the threads on rear subframe failures...

I have a Cycle Hill changer too. Extra hands are great. I kept having issues with the wheel popping out of the clamps so I added a 1/2" all-thread center screw that protrudes thru the axle hole and a nut to hold it down solid. 18" irons and a rich dawn soap solution helps a lot as well.

I have sold the same kits to both Gen2 & Gen3 owners w/o any issues identified.

The rivets are 5/32, medium (1/4 - 3/8") grip. I can send you some gratis if the ones on the lid side are loose. Those are easily replaced. The ones on the bag side are a hassle if they are loose. If they are. I would suggest leaving them alone and drilling 2 or 3 new 5/32" holes thru the...

If they need to be restuck, don't use a glue with solvent in it. The back of the sticker has a thin layer of metallic which the solvent may affect. I suggest using double-sided tape or RTV silcone rubber which is good for mounting the rubber bumpers too.

FWIW, the clear coat on all of the model years is not all that thick...
