Looking to replace my RT. Have a few questions.

Marko, Mama Yama sells a color matched top box ... most of us prefer Givi due to larger inside and firmer mounting bracket. There is a Touring windshield from Mama available. Fix the bars first, then the seat, then address the windshield. Risers help, also a Heli block raises the bars...

    Considering returning to FJR

Enn, A 60 year old friend of mine recently bought a used 2014 FJR. After just the 50 mile ride home from the Dealer he said " That CC is a game changer!" Maybe try any 2013 + FJR for a day or so and see if it doesn't fix your issues.

    E15 / Unleaded 88 in 2008 FJR1300

https://www.pure-gas.org/ This website lists (almost) all the places to get E-0- in every state. I still run E10 all summer in my FJR, and then store it for the winter months with E-0- and Stabil when the snow flies. YMMV

    R1250RT to the FJR

I rode the 1250 RT around Europe for 10 days (mostly 2 up) and loved it. We did Stelvio 3 times, and many passes each day and the RT turns quickly and easily, accelerates strong down low, and maybe popped a small wheelie by accident on a switchback. But I didn't get the quick shifting strategy...

    Mode switch

A while back I sent my ECU to 'Ivan ' for a flash. That smooths out the shifting, eliminates the 80 mph CC limitation, and adds a 3rd drive mode. He calls it NORMAL and it feels like 85 % Sport. I stay there most of the time ... unless I'm in a hurry. https://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/

    FJR1300 To Be Retired

"Long abandoned FJR" is not very compassionate (or accurate) after 20+ years of running an award winning platform. Based on all the newer technology on the Tracer ... I think ACC sounds like alot of BSS!

Do you all get “challenged” at stop lights?

Filzy, Thanks for spelling it out in a word picture. ;)

    FJR Age Limit

They may be worried about the liability that comes from dip-sh.ts who bring in tired bikes and sue because the dealer didn't get them to run 'like new' for the $500 estimate. I hope to never need a dealer to work on my 2003. That's what friends on the FJR Forum help with!!!

FJR's don't like dirt - let alone floods and ...

Some would highly disagree ... As always ... YMMV

Is it better to buy a 2012 than build up a 2006?

Bugman, As much as I agree with all the benefits of going to the 2012, you are just 1 year away from the Gen 3 2013 (which I own). Look @ the used market for a low to mid mileage (I have 48k ) 2013, and you may answer your own question ... is it worth it? The list of upgrades is long and...

    Gen 3 or 4?

Ahamay, I don't know about getting it to Australia, but in the US we have Ivan doing flashes of the ECU. http://www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/ecu.htm The result is smoother shifts, better overall performance, a 3rd Drive mode (kinda semi-sporty) and eliminate the upper-end limit on CC...

    I dropped her again.

Ditto twice!!! My new to me 2013 rolled forward (because I thought we were on level ground) and broke my left mirror and scratched the left plastic. I replaced them both @ my expense ($400+) and moved on. Now I always park her in gear (unless I'm in my own garage). YMMV

    Tracer 9 back to FJR

I just love a 'Love story'. Welcome back to the joy of the FJR!

    Gen 3 or 4?

Or get a 'cheap' 2013 and Flash it to have 3 drive modes AND unlimited cruise control.

    Newbie needs help.

I run 40F and 42R (+/- 1/2 a pound) and prefer Michelins above all others. They seem to cup less.

Brother's done riding, need FMV for his bike

God bless your brother ! It's nice to help each other out this way... I recently sold 2 BMWs for a lost friend. Advertised on CL. Asked a fair price and got em both sold. Now as I ride more this summer, I wish I had bought one for the memories of my friend. I suggest that buying his bike...

    2022 knocked over

Sorry about your drop. It reminds me of mine .... along a lonely 2 lane we stopped to rest on a group ride. I parked the FJR and went to visit ... and heard the THUD! It rolled forward slightly on a slope , because I didn't park it in gear. Big OOOPS! Maybe you did it too. Now I only...

    Gen 1 vs Gen2

The 07 is a beautiful dark red (which I love) vs the 05 is boring blue. However, the 06 and 07 were famous for jerky throttle response, and need a tamer or a flash, or ??? Possible Jbox recall too. 08 and up were smoother. I like the Gen 1s... 03 - 05 for being great out of the box. No...

Trying to select an FJR Model

Rollie, In a nutshell it's about which years (generations) not models. 2003 -2005 are Fast , light and simple (some don't have ABS). 2006 -2012 are heavier, 1 model (AE) has no clutch, but some recalls. 2013 + are current model. Model A has regular (better than usual) suspension. ES has...

    2022 Yamaha FJR

I love that the FJR stays alive for another year! I know it's just a matter of time because they are painting it BLUE (AGAIN).
