I volunteered to organize a FJR Rally in the Black Hills the last weekend in June 2015. This post has been edited to provide comprehensive info all in one location at the suggestion of the divine Miss T.

I expect that the weather will be in the 80's and there is always a chance of a thunder shower but June is usually one of our better months as far as weather goes. The Prairies and Hills should be green

This is a a gathering to ride the many wonderful roads we have here,

Check out some of my recommended ride routes in posts 219 and 230.

There are few organized activities save for a steak dinner on Saturday night in the City Park under a large picnic shelter (See separate thread for signup).

Free Draft Beer on Saturday Night at the Steak Fry courtesy of Outdoor Motorsports (www.outdoor-motorsports.com) the local Yamaha dealer. They will also have a discount deal on FJR tires, details forthcoming once we get an idea of how many tires might be needed (so far no interest to date I might add). There arte special rules for any and all Canadians with regards to access to the free beer. JSNS

Most major chains are represented.

Book now as rates will climb as rooms fill up.

The Black Hills, and Spearfish in particular, are a popular tourist destination.

The City of Spearfish has a great city park with shaded camping by the creek. The campground is almost within crawling distance of Rally HQ (about a 10 minute walk when sober) for those that don't want to imbibe and ride. https://www.spearfish...servations.html Check out their website and reservation policy. I don't believe tent campers will have any problems obtaining a site or reservation the weekend of the Black Hills FJR Roundup. There are showers/bathrooms etc etc in the campground. See picture in Post # 143

I'd be interested, I did a quick ride thru in 2008 after NAFO # 1 and have always wanted go back at a quite time of year and ride the area for three or four days! Depends on who I'm with as far as to camping or staying in a motel as I never know who my riding partner/'s will be.

I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend even, but I'd like to see that country. And I don't like to leave a set-up campsite while I go off for the day or longer, so if I can make this thing I'd be in a motel for the rally. So sure, definitely interested. Way to jump in with both feet, John. Hope it comes together.

An FJR event in the Black Hills? I wouldn't miss this for anything John!
I will be looking for a Hotel & food for 2 and will volunteer to help with anything.

Interested, two maybe three, camping, unless the wife comes, then HOTEL. Dinner. I love the Black Hills, just blocked it out on my calendar in anticipation.

I am interested. I don't care if it's a hotel or campground but I prefer to stay where most people are, so that looks like a hotel. I'll probably drag another FJR along if it happens.
