50th BBG Attempt Tomorrow

Now that my 49th BBG was certified by the IBA I am going to attempt my 50th BBG tomorrow, 2:00 AM Saturday, riding from Fort Lauderdale, FL to the USS Alabama Battleship and back.

I pay for parking and get a parking receipt for my turn around point. A couple times I wnet inside and bought a coffe mug for my recceipt.

My 50th BBG was a great ride and it was fun to ride with Dan Thaler who was riding his 20th BBG. It had all the things you want and don't want in a long distance ride. It was hot ( 97 degrees ), it rained for 200 miles and the traffic was crazy in western Florida panhandle and Alabama. There was a long line to get into the USS Alabama Battleship park. Many of the gas stations we stopped at had lines to buy gas. That's the stuff you don't want.

The good stuff is watching the miles go by and the freedom of the road. Being able to ride a motorcycle for 1500+ miles in a day is really cool to me.

The new Gold Wing gets around 180 to 200 miles between fill ups at 80 MPH. I have a 4.7 gallon AUX tank so I can comfortably get 330 to 350 miles between fill ups.

Wow, that's not much less than what a FJR gets. Seems impressive considering there's another 1/2 liter more motor under the hood.
