I was able to go to the Friday event. Found a good place right on the water, and although I had an umbrella for shade, the kind folks behind me let me slide back under their EZ-Up. There were only two of them and they had plenty of room, and I very much appreciated that! I had plenty of water in a cooler, but I still had issues when leaving; climbing off the beach afterwards got me overheated, so I sat in the burger place under a ceiling fan with a towel and some ice water, soaking the towel and putting it over my head for a while.

I was a gorgeous clear day, but very hot, mid-90s.

Show started with a couple of amphibians. The small one is an Icon A5, and the large one is a Grumman Widgeon from the 40s. The A5 is trailerable, I think. It has tricycle landing gear and folding wings.

The Coast Guard did a rescue swimmer demonstration. I set the shutter down to 1/60 to get rotor blur.

I forgot to speed my shutter up after the helicopter, so I had almost nothing useful from the aerobatic performers that followed. The actually tumble fast enough to ruin shots at 1/60th... I'm amazed I even got these! I saw Kevin Coleman in the Extra 300 SHP, Ken Reider and Adam Baker from the Redline Aerobatic Team, Skip Stuart in his biplane Prometheus, then Patty Wagstaff, and finally Gary Ward in the MX2.

They had a half-hour break and let people back into the water for a while, then Fat Albert arrived. (I still haven't moved my shutter speed up properly...)

Sneak pass! I was zoomed in too tight to get the wake on the water, which makes me very angry with myself...

Apparently I was right at show center!

Great pics! I am happy I will be out of town when Blue Angels visit Seattle this year. They are so noisy and annoying (my house is right where the action is) - have really enjoyed the two year COVID break...oh well.

Those are some fantastic photos...the crossing shot was perfectly timed!

Gee, that's too bad that you have to listen to some tactical jet noise for 30-40 minutes two damn days per year. How awful for you. There are many thousands of people that would disagree with you and are really looking forward to the airshow. Why not show some patriotism and support our military for just a few minutes? But if you can't do that, just put some ear plugs in and cower indoors while the rest of the crowd enjoys the noise.

I've seen the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, and multiple F-15/F-16/F-18/F-22/F-35 demo team shows over the years, and every one of them is a thrill to watch. A few years ago at Oshkosh, a B-1B Lancer beat the field up on departure back to its base at dusk, and THAT was some awesome noise. You could feel it in your chest and the ground trembled. I haven't seen the Blues since they re-equipped with the Super Hornet, but I'm looking forward to seeing them this fall at the Wings Over Houston airshow. I won't be complaining about the noise.

Excellent pictures but why are the Blue Angles still flying the F18, shouldn't we be watching the F 35?

BTW I watched the F 22 perform at Beale AFB 3 years ago, made me feel glad about al the taxes I pay. That is one badass jet!

Having a son in law who was in the Blues for 2 tours, they have transitioned to the newer FA 18 Super Hornets. The reason they don't fly the newer F22 is because they don't get new planes for their use. They are only assigned planes that have been removed from the fleet service.

You probably meant to say the reason they don't fly the F-35, as the F-22 has no Navy version. Still, neither the Blue Angels nor the Thunderbirds have flown the absolute top-of-the-line fighter since both teams were in the F4 Phantoms. the Thunderbirds never flew F-15s, and the Blues never flew F-14s. They'll use the jets that are less expensive to fly and maintain.
