You can just barely get the mirror lined up to both reflect light directly on the end of the exhaust cam gear, and be able to see the reflection from alongside the machined edge of the head. It's a true PITA, but possible.</p><p></p><p>Another trick is to lay a metal straight edge on the head surface, to extend the reference point closer to the cam gears.
