Finalizing getting the bike ready for the SS1000 (Saddle Sore) & BB1500 (Bun Burner). I leave Monday the 21st. I've installed the Clearwater Darla lights in front, and the Grip Puppies and Bar End Weights, this should really help with taking out that last bit of grip vibration. I'm getting excited and nervous. 1000+ miles from Shelton Washington to Las Vegas Nevada should be able to cover it in about 19 hours with gas stops, then sleep for 5 hours, and hit another 500+ miles into Tucson 9 hours with gas stops for a total of around 33 hours. They give me 36 hours to do it. Just need to finish organizing and packing my gear this coming weekend. Crossing my fingers for good weather, looks like it is going to rain on me the first 5 hours, then it should be nice and clear, and a bit warmer, after that.

Because it is early in the year, I have had my nose in The Weather Channel for a week. It looks like I will have 45 deg. and cloudy when I go over Santiam Pass in Oregon, the route I am going to take to get to the other side of the Cascades. It's only about 4800 feet elevation, and it looks good for Monday's travel, but things can always change. I have an alternate route already programmed into the Zumo XT that takes me farther south to cross over if I need to due to weather. I think I have a very realistic plan, with gas stops programmed in, should be fun,,,,for the first 6 hours,,,,lolol. I have been hitting the gym for the last two months, not bulking up, just cardio and flexibility, so I think I am as ready as I can be. I will check in when I get the first leg done when I hit Las Vegas.

Thanks for the terrific write up and pics of preparedness. Your bike looks like it's Rebel Forces ready with warp speed gizmos and radar turret mounts. Best of journeys in front of you.
Thanks so much Archer. I hope to update as I go, as much as I can.

You might consider going a little bit further south of Eugene on I-5 to Oregon Hwy 58 and cross over to US 97 there. It is a faster route over, brings you in 10 miles south of LaPine and avoids the traffic getting through Bend.
Weather is not looking great over the Cascades for Monday. My alt route is up the gorge to The Dalles and then down to Bend. Not as pretty of a ride, but much less elevation.

Looks like the weather over the Cascades isn't going to cooperate Monday, so I will go up the gorge to The Dalles and then down to Bend. Much less elevation.

We have a cold system with moisture that will move across northern Ca and Nv on Saturday with some mid teens and low 20's night time temps for a couple days after in Nevada. Watch for leftover icy spots from Saturday in the passes in the northern areas.

Been watching this closely as I'll be coming through Winnemucca, Austin, and Tonapah late Monday. Saturday looks not so good, but it should clear and warm by Sunday and Monday. I have had my nose in the weather channel, ODOT, and NDOT very closely indeed. They have some amazing highway travel conditions maps that are updated hourly with lots of highway webcams, technology is amazing today, gone are the guesswork and folding maps,,,lol. Thanks for the info though.
