Sylvia and I centerpunched a nice sized whitetail a couple of hours ago at 75 mph (120kph). It literally exploded.

Not a mark on either of us (nor did I drop the bike) but from the amount of shredded plastic and bent metal I'm not thinking that our insurer will be repairing our beautiful (flawless, set up to perfection etc.) 2004 ABS. We have cleaned the copious excrement off our Cycle Port gear but I left the deer crap all down the right side of the bike so the adjuster is not confused about what took place.

Thank you MamYama for building this platform hell-for-strong. I rode it 60 miles home with all of the plastic below the headlights gone, the coolant overflow tank split wide open and I'm sure the rake and trail considerably steeper than factory spec, but it still runs like a champion and never warmed past 2 bars!

We WILL see all our FJR friends in Golden even if we have to attend NAFO in a Duramax. If I can't ride, I will golf - anybody else interested?

Hug the ones you love tonight - life is short and life is good, my glass is way more than half full...

Sorry to hear about your bike, sounds like you treated her well (and vice versa) - Ecstatic to hear you and the wife walked away unscathed.

WOW! Good to hear you're both OK and will still make the NAFO scene. Good fortune!

R.I.P '04 brother.... :(

You're a better man than I. I hit mine in the left shoulder at 70mph, one-up. I looped, bike looped, dear looped. Final score: me, 1; deer, 0; bike 0. The good news is that State Farm gave me enough to be within a kilobuck of a brand new bike.

I love the attitude. See you at NAFO!

Urban sprawl and overpopulation of deer have caused a significant increase in vehicle collisions in this part of the country.

I'm glad to read that you all were not injured.

Good to hear that everyone, except the deer, is OK. It's a strong argument to hunt more and eat them before they eat your bike...

Sorry to hear that Bambi took out your wonderful ride! :( And glad you escaped to tell this tale. Given their underhanded guerilla tactics and their stepped-up recruitment campain, it seems no one is safe...

Holey Moley, Dave, that gets a "sphincter factor" of 10!

As with the above good wishes, the good news is that you are both physically unscathed. We'll be crossing our fingers for good news from the insurance compnay.

It will be more than great to see you in Golden!

Whats with all the accidents? I take off last week to go to my international convention last week and com back to read about nothing but totaled bikes. 2500 miles and not a scratch or a problem with 25 bikes on this trip. Knock on wood.l Couple of HD's had minor problems but that is normal.

By the way nice rideing keeping it up and all. Ya use viagra?

Real happy to hear you two are okay.... going that fast and hit a deer... I think someone is watching over you!!

great driving skills! and good luck with your insurance.......

..venison.. anyone

glad you are OK.
75 mph at night in deer country???

Are you trying to become the next Larry Grodsky???
It was still full light at 9:00 (northeners get a summer break) but this whole province is deer country and sadly it's now 24-7. Being that we were on a divided highway I suspect my concentration was not 10/10ths. Sylvia never saw a thing and she's an excellent (and experienced) deer spotter for me. Her comment: "what did you hit, a board on the road?"

Thanks for all the good thoughts folks - see many of you in Golden.

Yep, I am quite familiar with this kind of activity....

Outstanding job, staying upright. Pity you didn't have a 9mm Browning with you to perform post-incident mental therapy on the carcass.... :D

See you in Golden, and it doesn't matter how you get there... and yes, your glass is way more than half-filled.

You know, if I were to hit a forest rat, my bike would also be covered with poo. I guess I could tell the adjuster it was from the deer...

You are indeed a lucky man! I hope your insurance company is generous. As long as you're able to ride another day, the rest is small stuff.
