Well here's the recap of today..... I called Cypess and spoke with the customer service rep, he wasn't too sympathetic to our plight as I explained it in detail ( I think it was a little over his head ) , so I got through to the secocnd line of Cypress to the "product specialist", explained the Brodie harness again, spoke about the fix, the spiders, etc for a while with her. The specialist wrote it all down, then put me on hold while she contacted the Yamaha employee who is involved directly in the recall with NHTSA, then got both my local Yamaha tech and manager on a three way call together and discussed the harness, connections etc. ( I was not permitted to listen in )After 20 minues it was decided the Brodie harness is NOT PERMITTED to be left in place as it was not part of the NHTSA testing and documentation procedures and MUST BE PULLED by the dealer. It cannot be left in place. They alluded to the fact that if I wanted to reinstall it, it would not be installed by Yamaha, and they'd have no control over the installation and we'd be on our own with the results. Luckily, I did find the spiders and caps I removed and delivered them to the tech. My harness installs tomorrow.
